Mission Impossible 8 is almost here, and a few lucky people found a new level of happiness when they saw the first screening. It seemed that it didn’t just go well for director Christopher McQuarrie when the audience left speechless. It also appears that someone watching almost had a heart attack from the next-level action from Tom Cruise and the cast reprising their roles from the previous films. It might be wise to schedule a doctor’s visit and get a checkup before you watch The Final Reckoning, or you might be passing through the pearly gates for your final reckoning.
Christopher McQuarrie’s Next Masterpiece
This action spy movie is the direct sequel of Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One, which hit theaters in 2023. This movie started at the beginning of the year 2019 when McQuarrie and co-writer Erik Jendresen announced that both the seventh and eighth Mission: Impossible movies were going to be shot back-to-back. Filming started in March 2022 and was shot in various fantastic locations like the United Kingdom, Malta, South Africa, and Norway.
We will have to speculate on what breathtaking action the next Mission Impossible movie holds. The franchise has some of the best ongoing action scenes over the past 28 years. Who could forget seeing Cruise playing Ethan Hunt’s free climbing scene in the second Mission Impossible? During an early screening, someone felt their heart stop. With a reaction like that, McQuarrie’s next installment is sure to be a hit.
Action Across The Movies
From the first movie Train Chunnel crossing with a helicopter hooked to a train through the tunnel, the action continues with motorcycles, Berlin breakout helicopters, kidnapping someone while in the Vatican, and breaking into the Kremlin. Mission Impossible has always raised the bar in doing the impossible action. Just like the Burj Khalifa where Ethan takes us to the top of the highest building, from the outside while a sandstorm is coming.
We have some hints of the action coming in Final Reckoning in the trailer. It starts with several quick flash images hinting at a pattern of action, danger, and mystery. In the first second, a dark, misty, strange, lone container is seen before the scene quickly changes to a dog sled team on the cold, wintery tundra.
Mission Impossible 8’s Trailer Summary
The cascading images continue, next with divers lowering in the darkness of the sea. Then, in the fifth second of the trailer, a striking yellow, classic biplane is flying over several rocky hills before the audience sees a large, parked cargo plane with a couple of government cars driving toward it. Following that, we get a taste of military Osprey flying over an aircraft carrier, and then we are whizzed back to the Arctic in a wintery outpost in the dark. All these flash across the screen in the first ten seconds before we see our first image of a person and deep dialogue.
The words come as a man kneels surrounded in the street with four cars bearing down on him. “Our lives are not defined by any one action. Our lives are the sum of our choices.” These words come with a few extract scenes from the upcoming movie but also key images of past Mission Impossible moments. Things get better with the words, “Everything you were, everything you’ve done, has come to this.”
Tom Cruise And The Entity
The rest of the trailer follows what has been given so far with flashes of action, adventure, danger, and more. Tom Cruise and his team face the greatest danger with the entire world at stake. In the first part of this two-part stunt epic, Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt and team face up against an AI program known as The Entity. This program predicts Hunt’s every move, and if found by the wrong type of people, it will spell doom for the entire world.
There has to be so much more to this movie than the trailer shows, according to those who were able to witness the screening. Someone who went to the screening informed McQuarrie that they were suffocating throughout a sequence. McQuarrie shared that he thought that in making the movie, they must have done something right.
Should You Choose To Watch?
Luckily, we don’t have to wait long as Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning will be coming out on May 23rd. The tension is building as we don’t have to wait very long, and if anyone is wondering if they want to go, consider some of the closing dialogue from the trailer. “When the need for certainty is absolute, and the odds are deemed impossible, the mission falls to him. Should he choose to accept? The trailer ends with Hunt addressing his team, saying, “I need you to trust me one more time.”
