The Masked Singer Season 13 started with over a dozen talented mystery celebrities. Only four – Pearl, Boogie Woogie, Coral, and Mad Scientist Monster – remain now. This week marked the season finale and their last chance to dazzle all their voices. Ultimately, one lucky contestant walked away with the highly coveted golden trophy. The Finale is Finally Here
Masked Singer‘s Season 13 finale opened with judge Rita Ora and the contestants performing together. First on stage was Pearl, using her energy to entertain with a KT Tunstall hit. After her performance, Coral sang a beautiful rendition of a classic that stunned everyone. Boogie Woogie rocked the Masked Singer stage next with an inspirational hit. Lastly, Mad Scientist Monster moved everyone’s hearts by singing “Stay.”
Two had to leave the competition despite every performance being spectacular. In a shocking twist, the first to exit the contest was Mad Scientist Monster. The fuzzball turned out to be Brian Kelley, a country singer chosen by Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg. After taking a break, host Nick Cannon revealed that Coral would be leaving next. Ora turned out to be right in deducing this singer to be Meg Donnelly.
A New Masked Singer Winner Arises
The competition was now down to the two best contestants of Masked Singer Season 13. These fantastic celebrities had one last chance to win over the crowd and judges. And they had to do so by pouring everything into their final performances. Boogie Woogie stunned with a soulful rendition of “Love the Hell Out of You.” And then Pearl took everyone to church with The Pretenders‘ “I’ll Stand by You.”
The performers returned to the stage because Season 13’s ultimate vote was underway. Someone was going home a Masked Singer champion, and that person was… Pearl! As she enjoyed her victory, the disco dude unveiled himself as award-winning singer Andy Grammer. He gave a farewell performance before the moment to uncover Pearl’s famous face arrived. The audience cheered and judges gasped when she revealed herself as the iconic Gretchen Wilson!
Judge Robin Thicke guessed Pearl’s identity, keeping his score even with fellow judge McCarthy-Wahlberg. But with Wilson’s reveal, the Golden Ear competition officially concluded. The good thing is that they were declared shared winners and received a trophy each. They and everyone else closed out the season by partying with Masked Singer‘s newest champion.
Final Thoughts
The thirteenth season of The Masked Singer was the best I’ve seen. Every single performance brought me much entertainment, and the characters were captivating. Also, the banter between the judges and the host made me smile. But it saddens me to know that these wonderful moments are over. The only way I can re-experience them is on streaming sites and YouTube.
As for the season finale, I enjoyed this musical ride from start to finish. Seeing Mad Scientist Monster/Brian Kelley go saddened me since he was my favorite. However, I cannot deny that Gretchen Wilson deserved her victory since her performances were epic. The same goes for Robin Thicke and Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg winning their Golden Ear trophies. I cannot wait to see what happens next season on The Masked Singer.
