The Masked Singer rolled back the clock this week with Decades Night. Group C – Yorkie, Mad Scientist Monster, and Nessy – sang iconic tunes from various eras. And each contestant brought their A-game because this episode wasn’t just about reviving classic hits. In addition to turning back time, this event was the Group C Finals! Two lucky mystery singers wowed the audience and moved on to the Lucky Six. But who was the unfortunate performer forced to exit following their unmasking?
Masked Singer Parties Across Time
Host Nick Cannon opens this Masked Singer episode by presenting the final Group C contestants. Nessy, Yorkie, and Mad Scientist Monster entertain the crowd by singing The Knack’s “My Sharona.” Afterward, Cannon reminds them two mystery celebrities will move on to the Lucky Six. First up to sing is Yorkie, who dedicated her clue package to her mother. She revives the 1960s with The Supreme’s classic hit, “Stop! In the Name of Love.” The sassy pup also presented a clue connecting her to one of television’s biggest shows.
Mad Scientist Monster performed next but chose the more recent era of the 2010s. According to him, the 2010s was the best time in his career. He wowed the audience by turning “Love Yourself” by Justin Bieber into a country ballad. It was finally Nessy’s turn, and he took audiences back to the 1980s. He paid tribute to REO Speedwagon by singing their renowned melody, “Can’t Fight This Feeling.” After one final 80’s clue, the judges guessed Dave Matthews, Daryl Hall, and Patrick Monahan.
The panel and audience members voted, and Mad Scientist Monster emerged as the winner. His Decades Night victory locked him a spot in the Lucky Six. This development also meant that Yorkie and Nessy were at the bottom. To choose the final contestant, both singers participated in The Battle Royale. Each mystery celebrity performed a unique rendition of “Hard to Handle” from Otis Redding. But before the victor could be named, the panel received some intriguing and exciting news.
A Masked Singer Tradition Returns
Masked Singer detective Lucky Duck appeared unexpectedly, clad in his stylish fedora and coat. Disappointed at the judges’ poor guesswork this season, he makes a motivating proposal. The private eye waterfowl announced the return of the once-coveted Golden Ear trophy. It’ll go to the judge with the most correct final guess during Season 13’s finale. According to Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg, its discontinuation happened because she won it too many times. But the Golden Ear is back and ready to be claimed by a new winner!
The Final Group C Contestant Goes
The Masked Singer episode went back on track after Lucky Duck leaves. Cannon announced that the panel must vote for either Yorkie or Nessy. And the winner will take their rightful place among the Lucky Six. The judges made their decisions in tense silence, and the contestants returned. Everyone waited in suspense before Cannon named Nessy the victor of the Battle Royale. Unfortunately, this revelation meant Yorkie was the next contestant to leave The Masked Singer.
The judges were ready to guess and take one step closer to the Golden Ear. To help them out, Yorkie presents one last clue: a pair of knee-high boots. The panel connected the clues and made their ultimate predictions about Yorkie’s famous face. Paris Hilton, Kyle Richards, Erika Jayne, and Lori Loughlin were the celebrities they chose. And once the mask came off, everyone cheered upon seeing the face of . . . Erika Jayne!
Aside from being Masked Singer‘s Yorkie, Jayne is a Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star. She’s also starred in movies like Lowball and Sharknado 4: The 4th Awakens. Jayne even appeared on Dancing with the Stars in 2017 but sustained an injury. The Real Housewives was a music sensation long before appearing on television or in movies. She burst onto the scene in 2007 and now holds a Las Vegas show residency. There’s no telling where her singing career goes after appearing in Fox’s renowned competition.
Final Thoughts
This newest episode of The Masked Singer was a fun and spectacular experience! Erika Jayne undoubtedly blessed us with one incredible final performance as the sassy Yorkie. The fact she dedicated her song to her loving mother moved me as well. And a big round of applause for Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg for guessing Jayne’s identity correctly! Plus, the return of the Golden Trophy brings a whole new level of excitement. I cannot wait to see what happens next week with The Masked Singer‘s Lucky Six.
