Masked Singer Pays Tribute to Boy Bands

Masked Singer

Boy Band Night on The Masked Singer raised the roof! Group C’s four remaining contestants re-took the stage to sing renowned boy band tunes. Two famous musical artists also arrived to make the melodious event extra special. Like last week, the audience members and judges grooved to the mystery singers. And the occasion wrapped up with a costumed contestant unmasked and sent home. Care to guess which character had to remove their head and expose their famous face?

Group C Revives Iconic Boy Bands

The new Masked Singer episode opens with the audience cheering in excitement. Host Nick Cannon and the judges were wearing get-ups representing typical boy bands. But the event officially begins when the Group C contestants perform a Backstreet Boys song. Nessy, whose clue package revealed a connection to NSYNC, took the stage first. He even performs the band’s classic romance song, “Tearin’ Up My Heart.” Afterward, former NYSNC member and Season 8’s Hummingbird Chris Kirkpatrick presented a crucial clue.

Performing next with a bumping rendition of Bell Div Devoe’s “Poison” was Stud Muffin. The audience and judges got excited, especially when he dished out some unexpected dance movies. Omarion, the former lead singer of B2K and Season 8’s Yeti, delivered a golden clue afterward. Yorkie hit center stage next, singing New Kids on the Block’s “Step By Step.” Kirkpatrick returned to present a hint insinuating she’s been on a worldwide tour. The judges’ panel listed celebrities like Teresa Giudice, Paris Hilton, and Erika Jayne.

The final performance of the Masked Singer‘s Boy Band Night belonged to Mad Scientist Monster. His preceding clue package recounted his love story with his wife. And he serenaded everyone with a country version of “I Swear” from All-4-One. An important clue to his famous face came at the courtesy of Omarion. The hint revealed he won the same award as BTS and Backstreet Boys.

Masked Singer Says Goodbye to Another

Each performance was incredible, but someone had to leave Masked Singer as per the rules. Everyone voted, and the Group C contestant going home was . . . Stud Muffin! Once the shock wore off, the judges received one final clue: a street sign. The baby-faced pastry revealed he and his music group got a street named after them. After putting all the clues together, the panel made their final guesses. They went with the famous music stars 2 Chainz, MC Hammer, and Method Man.

The mask came off, revealing Stud Muffin as the Grammy-winning rapper, Method Man! Born Clifford Smith Jr., Method Man is a revered member of the Wu-Tang Clan. He also frequently collaborates with his fellow artist and close friend Redman in a duo. Method Man is an accomplished actor as well as an unparalleled hip-hop star. His first on-screen appearance was in the crime drama movie One Eight Seven. Since then, he’s been in countless films and television series.

Masked Singer judges Rita Ora and Robin Thicke guessed Stud Muffin’s identity correctly. But Ora took the official win by guessing Method Man last week. She exclaimed as the audience applauded that she knew it was him since the beginning. Ora went on to say that his distinct voice gave him away. His dance moves also indicated someone experienced being behind the muffin facade. Nevertheless, she was joyfully speechless upon seeing this legend reveal his famous face.

Final Thoughts

To see that Stud Muffin was hiding such a legendary rap icon surprised me. But at the same time, it wasn’t shocking since that’s how The Masked Singer works. The fewer contestants left in the competition, the higher the chance the singers are professionals. It was honestly happier to see that Rita Ora guessed Stud Muffin’s identity correctly. Seeing her so happy during Method Man’s reveal made us smile inside and out. Now, the mind’s swarming with what performances we’ll see during Wednesday’s Group C finals.
