Marvel Animation has finally dropped a teaser for the much-anticipated Eyes of Wakanda mini-series. Since it’s a teaser, it doesn’t reveal much. But it’s enough. Read on for more details!
Eyes of Wakanda
Eyes of Wakanda is a 4-episode mini-series set to debut on Disney+ on August 27. The series follows the Hatut Zaraze, an elite group of heroes who go on dangerous missions to recover artifacts made of Vibranium. It spans the history of Wakanda, which extends over 3,000 years.
When the first episode premiered at the Annecy International Film Festival in June, executive producer Todd Harris said, “Wakanda is a 3,000-year-old society. They have a very succinct self-identity, and they are preserving that. We get the chance to see the persistence and character of Wakandans. The premise of the show is: What’s the kind of culture that builds the Black Panther? You see this even in their generals, their sergeants, everyday citizens.”
The official description says, “In this globe-trotting adventure, the heroes must carry out dangerous missions to retrieve Vibranium artifacts from the enemies of Wakanda. They are the Hatut Zaraze, and this is their story.”
The Voices
The series, directed by Todd Harris, has quite a list of voice actors, which includes Winnie Harlow, Cress Williams, Patricia Belcher, Larry Herron, Adam Gold, Lynn Whitfield, Jacques Colimon, Jona Xiao, Isaac Robinson-Smith, Gary Anthony Williams, Zeke Alton, Steve Toussaint, and Anika Noni Rose.
Anika Noni Rose’s voice may be familiar to Disney movie fans. She’s the voice of Tiana in The Princess and the Frog. Cress Williams is best known for his starring role as the hero, Black Lightning. Steve Toussaint was Lord Corlys in HBO’s House of the Dragon. Additionally, IMDb lists the amazing Danai Gurira reprising her role as Okoye. Let’s hope that’s true!
