Hangar 13’s Mafia franchise is officially expanding. Actor Cariana Conti confirms a new game is in development, sparking speculation about a sequel to The Old Country or a full Mafia 2 remake.
Mafia Series Expands: New Game Confirmed by Lead Actor
The Mafia franchise is officially moving forward. During a recent livestream, Cariana Conti, who played Isabella in Mafia: The Old Country, revealed that a new installment in the series has already been greenlit by developer Hangar 13. While the studio has yet to make a formal announcement, Conti’s comment has ignited fan speculation and excitement across the gaming community.
Hangar 13’s most recent release, Mafia: The Old Country, launched on August 8, 2025, and marked a return to the franchise’s roots with a linear, story-driven format. The game was praised for its atmospheric setting and character development, especially Conti’s portrayal of Isabella, a central figure in the Sicilian underworld. Her livestream revelation suggests that the studio is already laying the groundwork for what’s next-whether that’s a direct sequel or a fresh take on a previous title.
Conti’s statement may have come earlier than Hanger 13 or publisher 2K intended. With the Old Country still fresh in players’ minds, the studio likely aimed to keep the spotlight on its current success before shifting attention to future plans. Nonetheless, the leak has opened the door to speculation about the direction of the next game.
Sequel or Remake? What Fans Might Expect
While details remain scarce, two possibilities are gaining traction. The first is a sequel to The Old Country, potentially continuing Isabella’s story and diving deeper into 1920s Sicily. Given the game’s three-year development cycle, a follow-up could arrive before the decade ends-especially if Conti has already been approached to reprise her role.
The second possibility is a full remake of Mafia 2. Unlike the original, which received a complete remake in 2020, Mafia 2 only saw a remastered edition. Fans have long hoped for a deeper reimagining of Vito Scaletta’s journey, and Hangar 13 may be ready to deliver.
Regardless of which path the studio chooses, one thing is clear: the Mafia series is far from finished. With renewed momentum and strong fan engagement, Hangar 13 appears commited to evolving the franchise while honoring its legacy. Whether players return to Sicily or revisit Empire Bay, the next chapter promsies to be a compelling ride through organized crime’s golden age.
