Louella And Lou Lou Surprising Casting Announced: It’s Not Who You’d Expect

Molly McCann and Iona Bell as Louella and Lou Lou.

Sunrise on the Reaping, we’ve talked about it plenty before. Now, we have two new actresses. One for Louella Mccoy, the other for Lou Lou. Lou Lou is Louella’s replacement after Louella dies at the tribute parade. The casting was quite controversial for both actresses, but, let us remind you that these actresses are children.

Don’t take out your disappointment on them, it’s not their fault they were the ones cast. Bullying children is never okay, and should never be okay. Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s get started.

Louella McCoy, Official Actress

First, let’s start with the original Louella. Her actress is Molly McCann, a young woman who doesn’t look to be over fifteen. While it may be frustrating that Louella’s actress isn’t of a different race, she’s a child.

We do not bully children just for the roles they’re playing. If you look in the comments, there are plenty of people absolutely furious that Louella is played by a white person. Which isn’t fair, there is no physical description of Louella’s skin color in the book.

So, you must be asking, “Why are people so mad? Why does her race matter?” Well, dear viewer, people think it matters because Lou Lou, Louella’s duplicate, is from district 11. District 11 has been described as a predominately black district.

However, that doesn’t mean every person is black; it just means that a majority of them are. Louella and Lou Lou may just be a minority. It shouldn’t have to be this way, but it is, because people suck.

Lou Lou Casting Announcement

Lou Lou’s actress is Iona Bell, and she has the same problem as Molly. She’s white, and people aren’t happy with it. She’s an actual actress, which seems surprising considering her age. However, child actresses exist, which brings it a tiny bit into perspective.

Although she hasn’t been in much. If you Google her, there are only a few results. Even on IMDb, there are fewer than 10 results. One of them is literally Sunrise on the Reaping. There’s barely any point in listing them, either. Molly has been in more than Iona, so let’s talk about that next.

Iona Bell’s Previous Roles

Iona Bell has been in way more things compared to Molly. Which means she’ll probably be better for Louella. Her previous roles include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Rosie (2018)
  • Vivarium (2019)
  • Herself (2020)
  • Never Grow Old (2019)
  • Sweetness In The Belly (2019)
  • Freelance (2023)

Along with these, she’s been in plenty more. She seems to have been in the acting game more than Molly. But, we’re sure they’ll both do great. Now, one last thing before we go, if you don’t know who Louella Mccoy is, first of all, sorry for all the spoilers, second, that’s what we’re gonna answer really quick.

Who is Louella McCoy?

Louella Mccoy is one of the tributes from district 12, along with Haymitch Abernathy, Maysilee Donner and Wyatt Callow. She’s a young girl, barely older than the bare minimum to participate in the Hunger Games.

She ends up dying in the tribute parade. The tribute parade for the 50th Hunger Games was an absolute mess. Everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. No spoilers for what exactly happened, just read the book.

Overall, her death was incredibly tragic, and Lou Lou was given to help save face for the Capitol. Lou Lou was most likely from district 11, as was figured out by her fellow tributes. That part of the games was a mess, and was definitely hard to read. Both the death and Lou Lou’s tragic entrance and exit into the games.
