Since 2023, Lizzo has been sharing her weight loss journey with her fans on social media. She’s made an incredible transformation thus far, as she’s lost an incredible amount of weight since she first started her challenge to lose weight. Of course, with the recent rise of weight loss medications, Lizzo has been accused of using these drugs to lose weight, but she has assured the world that that’s not the case.
Lizzo Denies Weight Loss Medications
With the recent rise of medications to help lose weight, like Ozempic and other GLP-1 drugs (medications primarily used to manage type 2 diabetes and obesity), it’s not surprising that Lizzo has been accused of using them to lose weight.
The singer denied using Ozempic to lose weight several times; however, she recently revealed to Trisha Paytas on her June 19 episode of her podcast, Just Trish, that she did try Ozempic to lose weight at first, but decided she could continue on her weight loss journey without it.
She said, “I tried everything. Ozempic works because you eat less food, yeah? So if you eat right, it makes you feel full. But if you can just do that on your own and get mind over matter, it’s the same thing.”
With that mindset, she was able to focus on her diet, and she was able to lose weight without the help of Ozempic or any other GLP-1 medications.
So, How Did She Do It?
While we now know that Lizzo didn’t use any weight loss medications, and she focused on changing her mindset, how else did she lose such a significant amount of weight? It was stopping being vegan.
She said, “Because when I was vegan, I was consuming a lot of fake meats. I was eating a lot of bread. I was eating a lot of rice, and I had to eat a lot of it to stay full. But really, I was consuming like 3,000 to 5,000 calories a day.”
She continued, “So for me, when I actually started eating whole foods and eating like beef and chicken and fish, I was actually full and not expanding my stomach by putting a lot of like fake things in there that wasn’t actually filling me up.”
Lizzo also said that a big part of her transformation was her shift in mindset, which is focusing more on herself and her health rather than using distractions. “I loved to distract myself with people. I loved to distract myself with food. I loved to distract myself with drinking. I loved to distract myself with problems that I would create. I would love to do that. And I stopped doing that. And I just focused on me.”
