Live With Kelly and Mark is marking the end of an era after 37 years. No, thankfully for all of us fans, the show isn’t coming to an end any time soon, but there are some big changes coming. The show is moving out of the iconic studio that it’s been in since the very beginning almost four decades ago. Instead, Kelly and Mark will be moving into a brand new studio, kicking off a fresh start.
Live With Kelly and Mark: End Of An Era
Over the years, Live With Kelly and Mark has seen hundreds of guests, a handful of different hosts, and had even more iconic moments. For the last 37 years, the show has been broadcast from the same studio. Like they say, all good things must come to an end, and the same goes for this iconic studio that has housed almost four decades’ worth of memories.
Kelly Ripa started as a co-host alongside Regis Philbin back in 2001. Even though her co-host has changed a number of times over the years from Michael Strahan, to Ryan Seacrest, and now her husband Mark Consuelos, one thing remains the same: the show is one more the most loved daytime talk shows on TV.
There have been many fond memories for Ripa over the years, and leaving the studio for a brand new one is bittersweet. According to ABC7NY, Ripa explained that she and her family grew up in the studio.
“It always gets me when you see the kids growing up on the show… it hits you how long and how impactful this place has been for our family,” Ripa said. “When I started working here, I had a three-year-old, and now we have three adult children. But we’re still a married couple; we were working together then, and we’re working together now. So, a lot has changed, and yet nothing has changed.”
Before Ripa can start making new memories with her husband and her children in the new studio, there’s still some work to be done. While they’ll no longer be broadcasting in the old studio, the new one isn’t quite ready yet.
According to Page Six, the show will be broadcasting from a temporary location in the new Disney building; a wide open space near the cafeteria. While it might not sound that fancy for a show like this to broadcast from, they won’t be there for an extended period of time.
Fortunately, Live With Kelly And Mark won’t be stuck filming there for that long, as their new studio will be ready for them by April 14.
The Future Is Bright
While Live With Kelly and Mark are ending things in their studio in New York City’s Upper West Side, they’re ready to make some new memories in their new studio that’s not that far away. The new studio will be located in Disney’s corporate headquarters in Lower Manhattan at Hudson Square.
According to E! News, the reason for the studio move is to centralize Disney-owned productions. Other shows like The View and The Tamron Hall Show already film at the new location in Hudson Square. Eventually, Good Morning America will move there as well.
While change is sometimes hard, all good things must come to an end. In the case of Live With Kelly And Mark, moving into a new studio is a great thing. With almost 40 years’ worth of memories in their old studio, a fresh start will help them start making more.
