FDA Issues Quick Recall of Boar’s Head-Labeled Pecorino Romano Cheese for Listeria Risk

Boar’s Head has long been a trusted name in deli counters across the country. That trust is why their latest recall matters—not because of widespread harm, but because the company and its distributor chose to act quickly, pulling products as a precaution to protect consumers.

The Recall

The Ambriola Company, which distributes some of the deli favorite products, announced a risk tied to Pecorino Romano cheese that could potentially contain Listeria. This includes six-ounce containers of BH Grated Pecorino Romano Cheese and FS Grated Romano Cheese.

Affected products:

BH Grated Pecorino Romano Cheese, 6 oz Item Code: 858 Case UPC: 042421-05858 Sell-by Dates: 11/21/25–3/12/26

FS Grated Romano Cheese Item Code: 15119 Case UPC: 042421-15119 Sell-by Dates: 11/21/25–3/12/26

Two pre-packaged deli items are also included: the Everroast chicken Caesar salad and chicken Caesar wrap.

Why it Matters

Listeria is a tough bacteria that can make people sick, especially those more vulnerable. No illnesses have been reported, but Boar’s Head and its distributor Ambriola decided to pull the products anyway. It’s prevention, not reaction — showing they’d rather be safe than sorry.

This came out in late November 2025 after testing raised red flags. The items were sent to Kroger stores in Kentucky and Indiana. Acting fast meant the products were pulled before anyone had a chance to get sick.

What Consumers Should Do

Check your fridge for the listed products.

Don’t eat them.

Take them back for a refund or toss them out.

Boar’s Head Company

Boar’s Head started back in 1905 and built its name on quality and trust. This fits that history — choosing caution even if it means pulling more product than necessary.

Boar’s Head has always been about good deli food. Their quick reaction shows they’re also about protecting the people who buy it, going the extra mile to keep that trust strong.
