Leah Remini, famed actress turned activist and documentarian, announced her split from her husband of twenty-one years. Leah Remini and Angelo Pagàn were both in their late 20s when they met in 1996. At the time, Remini had just made her mark on Cheers and would land one of her most famous roles on King of Queens two years later. The two met in L.A. and got married seven years later, in 2003. Pagàn was an avid supporter of Leah Remini when she left the church of Scientology in 2013, embarking on a long journey of exposing the church for years afterward. They also have a daughter together, Sofia Bella Pagàn, who was born in 2004 and is now twenty years old.
Their Divorce Announcement
Instagram was the method that the former couple chose to announce their upcoming divorce. They wrote a joint post/statement and uploaded it to the social media platform on August 29th. They began their statement by acknowledging their lengthy relationship: “Well, here we are. After 28 years together and 21 years of marriage, we have decided to file for divorce. This decision came after a lot of thought and care, and as hard as divorce is, we are approaching this with a positive outlook because we know it’s what’s best for us.”
Leah Remini and Angelo Pagàn continue by addressing the question that many fans will have: the big why. It’s a common question when celebrities split or get divorced, but especially when they’ve been together as long as Remini and Pagàn have. They stated, “So, the big question- why? To put it simply, we both changed, as people do, and we got used to playing roles that didn’t fit us anymore.
