Lacey Chabert, a holiday movie icon who might be best known for her impeccable work on Mean Girls (2004), was in New York with Raising Cane’s CEO Todd Graves to give away 400 bikes to local children’s groups. Total Apex Entertainment was fortunate enough to be on the scene for the holiday event as Graves, Chabert, and a host of other celebrities helped spread Christmas cheer in the heart of Times Square.

Lacey Chabert, perhaps better known as Gretchen Wieners from Mean Girls, has become a holiday movie icon since then. She is, as many would put it, the queen of Hallmark now. On Tuesday, she was a shining light for the Boys & Girls Club of Harlem. She was also, as she always is, a big fan of Raising Cane’s.

Chabert said of Todd Graves, the CEO and co-founder of one of the fastest-growing fast-casual restaurants in the United States, “You’re so kind, and your warmth is so genuine… And I just appreciate everything you’re doing.” What Graves is doing is what he’s often doing: philanthropy. At any given moment, he could be at one of his restaurants across the United States giving something away or doing something for the community.

I think God made me good at chicken fingers to help people. I employ over 65,000 people. We make money, and that money is to go back and help people in communities and really be a part of the community,” Graves said. “For me, it’s just a privilege to do that. It’s really my purpose, and it’s Raising Cane’s, and my crew gets to share stuff like this and everything we do all in local communities, so it’s just an absolute privilege.”

Graves said he loves being in New York and Harlem, which is why he was so pleased to be able to give back to the local Boys & Girls Club. Chabert said the act of giving back, whether it’s in the form of bicycles for children or sponsoring the installation of a reef for the local fishing community, is “everything.”

“We’re all in this life together, and to be able to be there for someone, especially during the holiday season, you know, the spirit of giving and the joy that that brings me, and the feeling of togetherness,” Chabert said.  “It’s something that does bring us together, and there’s such unity in it. I think, however big or small, we’re able to spread some holiday cheer to those around us, it’s just so meaningful.”

Lacey Chabert Reveals Favorite Holiday Tradition

Everyone has holiday traditions, and that includes Lacey Chabert. While her movies air all over the Hallmark channel this time of year, she’s spending time with her family and enjoying the time. “I love this season so much, and I try to prolong it as much as possible and make it last as long as possible,” Chabert said. “So we decorated like a month ago. I have an 8-year-old daughter, so she’s really excited about Elf on the Shelf.”

She elaborated further that she mostly loves spending time with family. It’s a theme in many of her movies, but it’s also one she puts to work in her everyday life away from work. Chabert loves “taking a little time to slow down a little bit and just enjoy the goodness of the holiday season in every way that we can.”  That goodness includes, in her own words, being surrounded by love, which is something the actress described Tuesday’s event as.

Happy Holidays

Though Raising Cane’s giving is not restricted to the holiday season, they are more than aware of the time of year. It’s the perfect time for giving, and Todd Graves and Lacey Chabert, as well as Dolores Catania, Ciara Miller, Dorinda Medley, Jesse Solomon, Peter Weber, and Malik Nabers, know that. That’s why they chose to give away 400 bikes, though across the United States, the total number has risen to 2,500 bikes. To further prove their commitment to the community, Raising Cane’s is also going to help teach those who don’t know how to ride their new bicycles so everyone can enjoy the wonderful gift.
