Like, what better person to have — somebody that’s won that show to come back,” Kelly Clarkson remarked when Keltie Knight asked her about the subject. “To have somebody to look at and go, ‘OK, they’ve done it and they’re sitting right there. So, that means I am capable of doing it. I can dream that big,” she said.
Clarkson added that Underwood’s successful career would be an “invaluable” asset to the show. Carrie Underwood is replacing Katy Perry after the latter departed from American Idol.
