Keanu Reeves, Seth Rogen, and Aziz Ansari are all starring in Good Fortune, a comedy about an angel named Gabriel who needs a bit of fine-tuning in messing with people’s lives. Wanting to have more purpose to his work, Gabriel is on a mission to help people reverse their fortunes. Aziz Ansari wrote and directed this movie. It’s due to be released in October.
Good Fortune Basic Premise
Angel Gabriel (Keanu) works in and around the valley in California (in other words, a “valley angel”). Gabriel sees Arj, played by Ansari, who’s down on his luck. Arj picks up odd jobs and has been doing some work for Jeff (played by Seth Rogen).
With the flick of his wand (or glittery angel dust – or powder – we’re not sure yet), Angel Gabriel switches Jeff’s and Arj’s life – just like that. Now we’ve watched other films with similar premises, but we’ll see how this plays out. Also with a great cast, we can be fairly sure this will probably be a hit.
Good Fortune and Keanu Reeves Get Their Wings
The most recent trailer for the movie shows Keanu donning a set of fluffy wings, asking if he can find more meaningful work. He then meets Arj and sets about a way to save him. Venture capitalist Jeff, with his nice Hollywood house, might hold the key.
A couple of other movies, like Trading Places and The Change-Up have had similar plots. If done well, this movie could be successful at the box office, especially with the talent of the cast. Sandra Oh and Keke Palmer are also featured in the movie.
Final Thoughts on Good Fortune
Aziz Ansari has been doing a lot more behind the scenes creative work. He has great comedic timing, and Seth Rogen has had a long string of comedies. Keanu Reeves, on the other hand, has aligned himself with more action flicks over the past decade-plus. With Ansari, Rogen, and Reeves together, Good Fortune should be a satisfying movie with a lot of laughs.
