His mix of content can draw in a wide audience, and he has had success in making fans feel a part of his community. Kai Cenat Background
Kai Cenat is one of the most successful streamers of all time. Born December 16, 2001, in Brooklyn, New York, Cenat began streaming in 2018 on the platform YouTube. He has since amassed a huge following, ultimately migrating over to Twitch. Currently, he has the fourth-highest following total of any streamer on Twitch, with nearly 17 million. He held two subathons in 2024, the first of which had a record 300,000 concurrent subscribers at one time. In total, Cenat again broke a record with his second subathon, named “Mafiathon 2”, with nearly 730,000 gained subscribers during his 24/7 month-long livestream.
Starting in 2022, Kai Cenat began inviting celebrities into his live stream. Those who joined the young streamer in 2022 included comedian Kevin Hart and rappers Bobby Shmurda, Lil Baby, and 21 Savage. Since then, he has had a plethora of additional stars make appearances. His other ventures have included releasing music, including “Bustdown Rollie Avalanche” with rapper NLE Choppa, appearing in music videos as an actor or dancer, and appearances with the WWE. He has won Streamer of the Year and Breakout Streamer awards throughout his career.
Kai Cenat has also made a global impact with his fame and finances. 20% of the money he made during his subathon was donated to a school in Nigeria. He has made a cultural impact as well, coining the words rizz and gyat, both nominees for word of the year in 2023. Cenat has always honored his culture, his heritage, and his generation, and this has helped him gain his loyal following.
Kai Cenat has not been without his controversies, though. In 2024, Cenat held an event in Union Square in which he was giving away a PlayStation 5 and other gifts to his followers. The event got out of control, and ultimately, he was arrested and charged by the NYPD with first-degree rioting, inciting a riot, and unlawful assembly, although those charges were later dropped, and he paid restitution. Later, in his “Mafiathon 2” live stream event, the Generation Z streamer was criticized for allowing magician Max Major to depict himself hanging. These events did not ultimately hurt his following.
Kai Cenat’s Twitch Account Gets Banned
Kai Cenat will have to hope that Twitch restores his account, because it was banned from the platform on April 3rd, 2025. This has occurred for him once before, and the platform ultimately restored his content. This time, however, it was banned due to an alleged hacker.
On April 3rd, a hacker reportedly got into Kai Cenat’s Twitch platform. The hacker altered Cenat’s display image to a “Sava” logo and altered his banner to include a link to a Discord group. He also briefly had his display name changed to “Savawuzhere”. Fans quickly noticed the change, expressing surprise that his account would be hacked. However, he also recently had his Tik Tok account hacked as well, along with his 17 million followers on that platform.
Twitch typically will ban an account that appears to have been compromised, with an effort to stop the violation any further. It is unclear when, or if, the account will be restored. Hopefully, Kai Cenat can find out who is behind the hacking and notify Twitch officials so that they will restore his account. If not, the streamer has a ton of work ahead of him to rebuild his massive following.
