Kacey Musgraves will release her new album, “Middle of Nowhere Vol. 2: Tex Mex Tapes,” on Jan. 15, 2027, through Lost Highway Records, Variety reported. The 16-track companion album lands about eight and a half months after “Middle of Nowhere,” which came out May 1.

The new album digs deeper into the musical traditions Texas and Mexico share, while carrying forward the solitude and quiet contentment that ran through the first volume. It mixes 11 original songs with five covers, according to Goldmine. Four tracks are sung entirely in Spanish, including the Spanish-language version of “Uncertain, TX” with Grammy-winning norteño group Intocable, which Musgraves released as a standalone single Oct. 5. The original version of the song, featuring Willie Nelson, appears on “Middle of Nowhere.”

Fans got an early listen when Musgraves dropped two songs at midnight ET on Oct. 23: the original “Weekend in Texas” and her take on “Mi Tesoro,” the norteño classic by Cornelio Reyna. The album also includes a live recording of “Tú Solo Tú” with Mariachi Oro de América and a cover of Freddy Fender’s “Before the Next Teardrop Falls.”

She also heads into the 60th annual CMA Awards with five nominations, tied for third-most this year behind Ella Langley and Miranda Lambert. Her nods include album of the year for “Middle of Nowhere,” female vocalist of the year and musical event of the year for “Horses and Divorces” with Lambert. “Dry Spell” earned her two more, for song of the year and music video of the year.
