Justin Timberlakes Drivers License Suspended For DWI

Justin Timberlake's license suspended in the wake of his DWI charge.

Currently, Justin Timberlake is on a world tour in Europe, and he has just undergone his virtual hearing. The hearing was held in New York for his DWI charge and he attended it through a video link. Timberlake pled not guilty to the charges. The Sag Harbor Village Justice Carl Irace responded by suspending his license indefinitely as the singer refused to take a breath test three times during his arrest. In addition, Justice Irace threatened Timberlake’s attorney, Edward Burke with a gag order due to previous comments about the superstar’s innocence. So, what led to this aggressive reaction from the Sag Harbor Village Justice that Timberlake had to say Bye Bye Bye to his license?

Justin Timberlake was arrested on June 18th in Sag Harbor around midnight as he failed to stop at a stop sign, in addition to failing to stick to his lane. When the officer stopped him he saw that Timberlake’s eyes were “bloodshot and glassy,” and that he reeked of alcohol. The former NSYNC member allegedly insisted to the officer, “I had one martini and I followed my friends home.” However, he refused to take a breath test and he failed the field sobriety tests, in addition to him having slow and slurred speech. He was arrested that night but was later released on his own recognizance.

Timberlake After the Release

Justin Timberlake’s attorneys made it their life mission to take every chance to insist on Timberlake’s innocence and that the DWI charges should be dropped. His defense attorney, Burke, said outside the court last Friday that “He was not intoxicated,” and in another statement, claimed that the police made significant errors in this case. Justice Irace threatened Burke with a gag order as he saw that the attorney’s comments were “irresponsible” and that it “comes off as an attempt to poison the case before it even begins,” as reported by NBC News.

As the attorneys are put at the frontline,  Justin Timberlake is out there on his Forget Tomorrow world tour in Europe. In addition, he was touring in Boston last month when he made a joke about his arrest, asking the crowd: “Is there anyone here that is driving? No, I’m just kidding.” This earned him laughs but has cost him his license and may cost him even more. The next hearing will be held on August 9th, and while he does not have to attend this one, there is another on September 13th, which he may have to attend.
