We all know the beloved John Krasinski from the hit series The Office, but, within the last couple of years he’s dabbled in the art of creating and directing his own films. Next week, his new movie IF is anticipated to release with a large cast of well-known Hollywood names. One of the major questions that comes to mind is, what in the world is the budget for this film? More importantly, what do they plan to make at the box office, opening weekend?
It’s hard to tell how successful the movie will be, but with ads officially hitting social media one thing is for sure; they’re marketing it well.
John Krasinski’s Box Office Hits
It all started with A Quiet Place which he co-starred in, co-wrote, and directed. It’s a heavy list of accomplishments for Krasinski who played small-time roles and stayed out of filmmaking until the wildly successful production of his first film. From A Quiet Place alone, he was nominated for the Writers Guild of America Award for Best Original Screenplay.
Since then, John Krasinski has gone on to create the sequels of A Quiet Place and of course acted in Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness and DC League of Super Pets, to name a few. Although A Quiet Place certainly launched him into the depths of filmmaking, his first film was actually Brief Interviews with Hideous Men.
IF Cast List
John Krasinski is famous, obviously, and from this fame, he has been able to rally a massive support of his coworkers for his new film IF. The large cast list is quite different from what Krasinski has done before but the storyline is promising. IF is about imaginary friends being forgotten and found again through a girl who realizes she can see all of them.
So… Who exactly is starring in the movie IF? The names go on starting with; Steve Carell, Ryan Reynolds, Emily Blunt, Awkwafina, Keegan-Michael Key, George Clooney, and the list could keep going it seems like. The movie is expected to make $40M on opening weekend, May 17th, 2024, which is overwhelmingly positive for a movie that is in high competition with other titles.
What To Expect
The competition for John Krasinski to earn a spot in the highest-earned box office for the weekend of May 17th is fierce. For example, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is projected to make $55M, whereas The Fall Guy is expected to make $35M. It’s tough to pinpoint what to expect, but if the same quality that was put into A Quiet Place was put into IF, we can hope to expect good things.
Next weekend, many are speculating films will not perform well, but with movies like IF which has a cast full of amazing actors, it’s hard to see that point of view. Of course, with the low projected box office numbers for the films coming out, it could be up in the air for these new films. Nonetheless, IF is a touching story that should bring both parents and kids together to reminisce about the simple things in life.
