John Goodman Suffers Hip Injury, Pausing Work Upcoming Film

John Goodman

John Goodman has been entertaining people for years. He has been in many fan-favorite movies and television series since he rose to fame playing Dan Connor on the ABC sitcom Roseanne. The award-winning actor is showing no signs of slowing down. He continues to be a hot commodity in Hollywood. However, the 72-year-old is starting to show his age at times. During a recent film shoot, Goodman suffered a hip injury and had to be sent to the hospital, delaying the project for a few days.

John Goodman Suffers Hip Injury

John Goodman was in the United Kingdom shooting a film with famed director Alejandro González Iñárritu. This is the same director behind The Revenant and Bardo, False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths. The film doesn’t have an official title yet but does have an IMDB page with the official synopsis. Jesse Plemons and Tom Cruise are also involved in the project. Reports came out Saturday that Goodman suffered an injury, as a Warner Bros. rep stated.

“Actor John Goodman experienced a hip injury. He received immediate medical attention that led to a brief delay in shooting to allow him time to recover. The production resumes shooting next week following John’s full recovery.”

Entertainment Weekly reports that production is likely to resume on Monday, signaling that the injury is not considered serious. More than likely, the studio was being cautious with John Goodman. This isn’t the first time he has been hospitalized with an onset injury. In 2022, on the set of The Righteous Gemstones, he slipped on gravel and hit his head on the back of a truck. The Big Lebowski star chronicled the whole incident with Jimmy Fallon on his late-night show.

Lots Of Upcoming Projects

John Goodman is a busy man. The final season of The Conners will premiere on ABC on March 26. He is also in the new Smurfs movie, lending his voice to the iconic Papa Smurf. We know very little about the project he is currently working on. The studio has kept everything under wraps, only announcing the cast and official synopsis.

One thing is for sure: John Goodman isn’t slowing down anytime soon. Given that Alejandro González Iñárritu’s The Revenant was the film that got Leonardo DiCaprio his Oscar, some speculate Goodman could be gunning for an Academy Award. Regardless, the actor will continue to appear in projects, and it is great to hear his injury was nothing serious.
