The movie takes place in Minecraft’s Overworld after several people are pulled in through a mysterious portal. It stars Jason Momoa as Garret Garrison, the Garbage Man. It’s the first time we’re seeing Momoa in a comedic role, and it’s something he’s been waiting for. In an interview with Collider, Jason Momoa and Jack Black are asked about Momoa getting beat up and Black as the action hero. Momoa said, “I just wanted to do comedy. I wanted to do something funny and he [Black] is the best person to do it with.”

They also asked about a certain scene in the film in which their character have to “get close” while flying. We learn from the actors that the scene was the idea of Jason Momoa based on the SNL Ambiguous Gay Duo sketch. He said that they had to go “nose to toes” to fit through a hole. Both of them were very enthusiastic about it. In his interview with BBC Radio 1, Momoa told them that he “just thought it would be funny.” And it sounds like audiences are loving it, too.

In a particularly cute interview for Today’s Parent, Jason Momoa had this to say about his co-star, Jack Black, “He’s exactly what you think he’d be like, but better. He’s perfect.”
