Jared Leto: Two Decades and Nine Women
The Air Mail report detailed interviews with nine women who allege that Leto, 53, engaged in inappropriate behavior over a period spanning nearly two decades. Several of these women claim they were teenagers when their interactions with Leto began. An anonymous source quoted in the report stated that Leto’s alleged behavior “has been an open secret for a long time” in Hollywood.
Among the specific allegations are claims that Leto asked sexual questions to a 16-year-old girl, walked out of a room nude in front of a 17-year-old, and exposed himself while masturbating before placing an 18-year-old’s hand on him. One of the women, model Laura La Rue, recalled meeting Leto at an animal rights benefit in 2008 when she was 16. She claimed Leto asked for her number despite knowing her age and later invited her to his studio, where he allegedly “flirted” with her.
La Rue further alleged that on one occasion, when she was 17, Leto walked out of a room nude “like it was normal,” leading her to believe “maybe this was just what adult men do.” Leto’s representative denied her claims to Air Mail, stating their communications contained “nothing sexual or inappropriate” and that La Rue later applied to be his personal assistant, which she denies.
Another anonymous woman claimed that in 2008, when she was 16, Leto approached her at a Los Angeles cafe and obtained her number. Days later, she alleged, Leto called her home in the middle of the night, speaking in a “weirdest, grossest voice,” which she speculated might have been due to drugs. She stated that these conversations “turned sexual,” with Leto allegedly asking questions such as, “Have you ever had a boyfriend? Have you ever sucked a d—?” She described being scared by the change in his voice and demeanor. Leto’s publicist has stated the actor has been sober for over 35 years.
Further accusations include another woman claiming that while underage, she began texting Jared Leto, who would ask her uncomfortable questions during visits to his home. She alleged that during one visit when she was 18, he “suddenly pulled his penis out and started masturbating” before placing her hand on him and saying, “I want you to spit on it.” These specific and deeply disturbing accounts paint a picture of alleged predatory behavior.
The Air Mail also referenced earlier stories surrounding Jared Leto’s alleged behavior, noting that DJ Allie Teilz recently reposted a 2012 Facebook status on her Instagram Stories, alleging that Leto “assaulted and traumatized by this creep with I was 17.” A representative for Leto told Air Mail that her allegations were “demonstrably false.”
