Jack Martin Joins Hulu’s New BriTANicK Comedy Series — Things Are About to Get Weird

Jack Martin, who you might recognize from NBC’s La Brea, is heading into very different territory: college life, chaos, and comedy. He’s just been cast in Hulu’s upcoming (and currently untitled) project from the sketch comedy duo BriTANicK, and let’s just say, things get weird fast.

The show takes a simple premise, a group of students ordering pizza, and flips it into a surreal adventure after an accidental drug trip. With Martin playing a hilariously intense RA and a cast full of familiar faces, this one’s shaping up to be anything but your typical campus comedy. Buckle up, it’s going to get wild.

What’s the Show About?

At first glance, the plot sounds simple: a bunch of college students order a pizza. Easy enough, right? But then they accidentally take some homemade drug, because of course they do, and suddenly, a short walk down two flights of stairs turns into a trippy, surreal, totally unhinged adventure. It’s part college-life comedy, part fever dream, and all kinds of ridiculous in the best way possible.

Jack Martin’s Role: The Dorm’s Tough Boss

Jack Martin takes on the role of Blake, the dorm’s head resident assistant, and he’s no friendly hall monitor. Think more “unhinged control freak with a God complex” than clipboard-wielding rule enforcer. Jack Martin’s character has been compared to Hans Landa from Inglourious Basterds, which tells you just how intense things are about to get. It’s a sharp pivot from Martin’s previous roles and shows he’s got the comedic chops to match his dramatic side.

A Cast That Feels Like Comedy Gold

Martin isn’t alone. He joins a cast that includes Stranger Things Gaten Matarazzo, The Goldbergs’ Sean Giambrone, and horror darling Lulu Wilson. The project is written and directed by Brian McElhaney and Nick Kocher, aka BriTANicK, who’ve built a cult following thanks to their brainy, slightly absurd brand of humor.

On the production side, you’ve got Jeremy Garelick and Will Phelps (American High), along with Billy Rosenberg (All Things Comedy), so yeah, the behind-the-scenes team knows what they’re doing.

Why This Could Be Hulu’s Next Big Hit

College comedies aren’t exactly new. But this one’s got something different. It takes the usual coming-of-age tropes and cranks the absurdity to eleven. The unexpected drug trip isn’t just a gimmick; it’s the vehicle for some seriously surreal storytelling. It’s Superbad meets Inception, with a dash of sketch-comedy madness thrown in.

Jack Martin: One to Watch

After three seasons of dodging prehistoric creatures and natural disasters on La Brea, Jack Martin is ready to make people laugh, and maybe squirm a little. He’s also popped up in The Rookie and All Rise, but this Hulu project feels like a turning point. It’s bold, it’s weird, and it’s the kind of role that could redefine how we see him.

What’s Coming Your Way

Expect mayhem. Expect laughs. Expect at least one scene that’ll make you say, “What did I just watch?” This isn’t just a college comedy; it’s a bizarre, high-energy ride that taps into the chaos of being young, broke, and just trying to get your dang pizza.
