The third season of Invincible delivered intense action with its blood, guts, and superhero clashes, but its fourth season is about to get even wilder. Moreover, the Amazon Prime series is preparing to return next year, exciting fans who expect even more jaw-dropping moments. Although the show has stayed true to its source material in previous seasons, the question remains – will it follow the original comics to a T?
Invincible Season 4 Promises More Carnage
According to creator Robert Kirkman, Invincible‘s fourth season will introduce an original storyline. However, this doesn’t mean several major comic book events won’t unfold in the upcoming season. Specifically, the season will focus on Mark Grayson’s evolving struggles and the various challenges faced by other heroes. Nevertheless, viewers should get ready for the upcoming explosive twists that the show is known for presenting.
By the end of Invincible’s third season, fans were left reeling from multiple cliffhangers. First, Cecil Stedman is holding Conquest captive, secretly interrogating him for intel on the Viltrumite Empire. While the vengeful Sequids regroup to prepare for another attack on Earth, Damien Darkblood stirs up trouble in the underworld. Due to events from previous seasons, Mark Grayson, the titular hero, has finally shed his reluctance to kill to protect his family and Earth’s citizens. This character shift is best seen in Greyson, making it clear to his younger brother that he’ll stop at nothing to eliminate any threat. That said, what can viewers expect to see happen next season?
Introducing Menacing Mutant Dinosaur Villain
As Invincible’s most cunning antagonists, Dinosauras is a towering hybrid of human and Tyrannosaurus Rex. Although he isn’t the most physically imposing villain in Season 4, the monster more than makes up for his lack of strength with his ruthless intelligence, making him a formidable threat. To separate himself from other mindless brutes, Dinosaurus schemes with chilling precision, calculating his every move to cause as much destruction as possble.
However, Invincible adapting this cerebral villain in a way that stays true to the comics remains unseen. Adding a darkly comedic edge to his menace, the dinosaur-human hybrid has a funny way of unlocking his power. As of now, the voice actor playing the character is unknown, but it hasn’t stopped fans from speculating who will bring this absurd villain to life.
The Viltrumite Warrior Duo
In more exciting news, the most fearsome villain in Invincible lore, Thragg, will also make an appearance in the animated series, according to Robert Kirkman. If viewers thought Conquest was unstoppable, then Thrag may make him inferior, redefining indestructible power. What’s more, his arrival will also tie into an even greater conflict. Notably, the Viltrumite king’s voice actor has already been cast, however, Kirkman hasn’t given much word on who will take on the role.
Although Conquest may play a background role to Thragg, it doesn’t mean the powerful brute won’t make an appearance. Despite the brutal beating he took in Season 3, Conquest survived to the surprise of fans, making his return an even bigger deal – and threat. With Cicil holding the battered Viltrumite captive, Conquest’s return is ensured, indicating that the Viltrumite War, the most devastating battle in Invincible history, may be approaching.
Season 4 Creates New Invincible Storyline
Even in the face of intergalactic threats like Thragg and Conquest, Mark Grayson and his allies will have a bigger problem to deal wth – war against the entire Viltrumite Empire. This colossal conflict isn’t compared to Dragon Ball Z’s epic battles for no reason and is sure to test Invincible like never before. With thousands of casualties guaranteed, one has to wonder if one season is enough to do the arc justice.
Invincible season 4 will also break away from the comic, putting a fresh, sinister turn on Damien Darkblood’s storyline. After Cicil banished the demonic investigator to the underworld over Omni-Man’s betrayal, he plans to get his revenge in the upcoming season. Whether Mark Greyson or his father, Nolan, is his true target is unknown. Nevertheless, Darkblood’s scheming adds a thrilling wild card to the chaos ahead.
Fractured Relationship Anchors Invincible Season 4
The first two seasons of Invincible put Mark and Nolan’s strained relationship through the wringer. While the third season has kept them apart, Season Four will put an end to their separation. As the Viltrumite War erupts, Nolan will have no choice but to seek out his son, forcing a long-overdue confrontation and an alliance that won’t come easily. Ultimately, the two warriors will have to put their brutal pasts behind them to survive this devastating war. Yet, can they somehow mend their fractured relationship, or will it prove just as dangerous as the war itself?
