I Know What You Did Last Summer (2025) Trailer Brings Back Classic Slasher Horror With a Bloody Hook. This is not only a new movie but a new chapter in the film series with the same premise, REVENGE!! The movie is set to introduce us to some new faces while bringing back some familiar ones that we haven’t seen since ‘I Still Know What You Did Last Summer’. Will this movie live up to the legacy of the original series, and who will survive the terror of the Fisherman’s hook?
What We See in the Trailer
The trailer begins by showing us our main characters at a wedding shower, where one of them receives a card that reads, “I Know What You Did Last Summer.” This illustrates what happened to the group of friends and the promise they made to conceal their horrific secret on July 4, 2024. Jump to the group of friends trying to figure out who would know what happened that night, still affirming that no one else would know.
Cut to night, and we see one of the group members taken down with a harpoon and a hook by the mysterious hooked killer, begging for his life. With the stress and fear among the group of friends, they fear they will be taken out one by one. They seek help from two people who have been through this before, Ray and Julie, from the original film.
Long Line of Rebooted Sequels
This movie is part of the long line of rebooted sequels that Hollywood has been producing for years. It follows the likes of ‘Halloween (2018)’, ‘Final Destination (2025)’, and the Chucky series of movies, ‘Curse of Chucky’ and ‘Cult of Chucky’, which continue or give us a new look at some of our favorite horror villains. I expect that with this new film in the IKWYDLS series, we’ll get some fresh and refreshing kills, which were lacking in the last movie, “I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer”, in which the killer was a ghost killing victims.
Legacy Characters Are Hooked In
The one thing that has me interested in the film is the return of Julie, played by Jennifer Love Hewitt, and Ray, played by Freddie Prinze Jr., from the first two films. I’m hoping we see how this affected their lives and how they grew apart instead of together, which seems to be what happened, because we don’t see them in a scene together in the trailer. These are two people who have survived something scary, seeing their friends killed by a madman.
I Know What You Did Last Summer (2025) is set to be released on July 18th, 2024. Jennifer Kaytin Robinson directs this film, starring Madelyn Cline, Chase Sui Wonders, Jonah Hauer-King, Tyriq Withers, Sarah Pidgeon, Billy Campbell, Gabrielle Bechtel, Austin Nichols, with Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt.
