Who Are You!? – An Alienated Man’s Turmoil May Be Due To An Extraterrestrial Abduction!

Who Are You!? is a sci-fi horror survival about a man trying to uncover the truth behind his wife's vanishing

Who Are You!? is an episodic sci-fi investigation game that immerses players in paranoia and unease. Haunted Human Studio delivers an intense psychological experience based on real-life UFO investigations, supported by knowledgeable ufologists. The first episode focuses on the mysterious disappearance of Ray Roswell’s daughter, who may have been abducted by extraterrestrials.

“They say five nights…Then I’m gone.” These haunting words ring true when Amanda Roswell disappears, leaving her husband, Ray, and daughter, Mattie, behind. Twenty years later, Ray, still consumed by guilt and depression, struggles daily. Mattie has cared for him since, but time has strained their relationship.

One night, when Ray is performing mundane tasks at home, a weird tremor shakes up the house, flickering lights, flying (or floating) objects, and horrific, shadowy visuals lingering around the corners. After it passes, a box is left in the front yard, containing a cassette tape labeled “I’m Still Here” in his wife’s handwriting. Before we knew it, Ray went through a blackout that brought him back to the Roswell property.

While exploring the property, watching tapes, and finding notes, Ray begins experiencing headache-induced flashbacks to the past. His memories claw their way to the surface, forcing him to hear and see visions of Amanda and Mattie as he moves from room to room. The deeper he digs, the more he starts to theorize that Amanda didn’t just disappear, nor was she kidnapped; he becomes convinced that she was abducted. And they are coming back for him, Mattie, or both of them.

The Immersion is Pulsing with Secrets

Who Are You!? grips Ray and the gamer as we step into his life and try to make sense of it. The plot is engaging, with the environment drawing us to uncover the story piece by piece. Each item we explore reveals just enough to intrigue us, pushing us to find more.

A messy house, a pristine child’s room, a secret chest, and a change in visual style reveal more than a narrator could by dumping lore. With cassette tapes and video tapes and jolting flashbacks, the plot hides in plain sight.

The fact that ufologists were consulted, and this is inspired by real-world UFO investigations, establishes an authenticity to the game. Overall, it’s a great immersive experience that was worth the wait. Knowing that it’s an episodic-type game, I can’t wait to see where the concept will be heading.

The Lights and Sounds In The Distance!!!

The style and design for Who Are You!? are uncomfortably familiar, letting you know you’re human, but intensifying the unease when something goes wrong. The soundscape is exceptional both when things are quiet and normal and when external forces disturb the tranquil atmosphere. From the radio turning on to the echoes of the forest, your teeth will be on edge as you listen to anything underneath the noise and within the static.

The lighting is on the high end of the contrast scale, making the shadows deeper and the glow more defined. It works well with the environmental settings since this entire episode takes place at night. Just when you think it couldn’t get any darker, the darkness swallows you. When the lights come on, the unnerving forces within the dark still linger even though you can’t see them.

Decent Voice Acting With Feeling

Who Are You!?'s main story plot is about uncovering the mystery behind the disappearance of Amanda Roswell

The voice acting is a bit on the amateur side when delivering the lines for the situations in Who Are You!?, but the emotions are mostly well portrayed by each character, especially Amanda. We don’t get much from her, yet she comes off as terrified and paranoid in the brief glimpses we see her. I would like to see and hear more of her, how she sounded in the past compared to present recordings and dialogue.

Roy’s voice is tired and gruff, fitting for a man who’s been carrying the burden of grief after losing a loved one. Maybe it’s because he’s depressed, but his delivery comes off flat at various points. They’re right for the mundane, but after the house shakes, it doesn’t change much in the aftermath. When he starts to uncover clues about his missing wife, we can feel the impact of how he’s feeling.

As for Mattie, she’s just as tired but holds contempt for being forced to become an adult since she was a child. She gives off an intoxicated way on the recordings on her tapes when she’s talking about her issues and confessions. The younger version of herself is cheerful and excitable, contrasting the established mood of what we’ve experienced so far. We’ve only come to understand the sadness plaguing the present, so it makes this voice feel just as foreign as the aliens.

What Comes Next!?! Episode 2 in Q3 2026

We have so much to unpack just from the first episode alone. From Ray’s internal and external struggle to the alien delivery service! For the continuation, I’m hoping we can see things from Mattie’s perspective and how she will be integrated into the story. Who Are You!?’s second episode is announced to be released in the third quarter of 2026.
