The Helluva Boss Season Two finale, Sinsmas, recently premiered and blew people’s minds. This new installment showcases Stolas coming to terms with his current situation. At the same time, Blitzo and I.M.P. celebrate Hell’s equivalent of Christmas. The episode has everything ranging from fun and laughs to tears and heartbreak. It even features a surprise that left fans excited for Season Three.
Recapping the Episode of Sinsmas
Taking place right after Mastermind, the episode starts with Stolas now living with Blitzo. The imp does his best to accommodate the former Goetia prince. Sadly, the only thing on Stolas’ mind is talking to his daughter Octavia. His ex-wife Stella and her brother Marquis Andrealphus consistently block his attempts. The month goes by until it’s Sinsmas, a Hell-wide holiday celebrated by Hellborn demons. Blitzo brings Stolas to work and makes him the company’s new receptionist.
A female sinner demon comes into the office, wanting to put a hit on Christmas. She wants the crew to kill her ex-husband, who ‘probably’ cheated on her. Blitzo reluctantly takes the job, but everyone changes their minds after seeing the target. They return to find Stolas missing, and their search leads to a battle against Andrealphus. It ends in victory thanks to Octavia intervening, though she turns away her father afterward. The episode ends with the I.M.P. crew having a small party at Blitzo’s apartment.
Octavia Lets Her Father Go
The central story in Sinsmas revolves around Octavia and her deteriorating relationship with Stolas. She feels her father abandoned her to start a new life with Blitzo. Now, the young Goetia believes his love for her was a massive lie. She decides to move on and accept that her father never wanted her. Octavia makes this choice clear during her one-on-one talk after the battle with Andrealphus.
However, it’s possible Octavia’s choice has underlying reasons and disguises her true feelings. She earlier discovered her father’s anti-depressants and realized something about her parents’ marriage. Octavia could’ve deduced she contributed to his unhappiness, thus causing her to feel immensely guilty. Her turning him away could be her harsh attempt at giving him a better life. Octavia forcing herself to look away from Stolas before leaving him also supports this theory. Only a future episode will reveal if this assumption is correct or not.
The Stolitz Ship Sails Strong
The other relevant plot in Sinsmas is the growing relationship between Blitzo and Stolas. While prevalent throughout the series, this episode takes it up a notch. The two start growing closer despite the harsh circumstances of their new arrangement. Blitzo begins being more affectionate and accommodating towards Stolas at nearly every chance. He comforts the former prince during stressful moments and buys him new clothes. On the opposite side, Stolas shows appreciation even though he’s depressed about losing everything.
The ending of Sinsmas unveils the most significant example during Stolas and Blitzo’s heart-to-heart discussion. After their talk, the pair share a romantic dance that briefly cheers Stolas up. This moment has led fans to believe these two will work out by the end. It also showcases how confident Blitzo has become regarding his feelings for Stolas. He’s finally ready to let someone new into his heart and embrace what happens next.
The Biggest Sinsmas Surprise
While Sinsmas mostly centers on Stolas, Blitzo, and Octavia, the biggest shock involves Millie. Throughout the episode, she playfully roughhouses with Moxxie to celebrate the holiday. Things shift once they arrive on Earth to kill their target, and she unexpectedly vomits. She also snaps at Moxxie after they reject the job, which surprises her. It isn’t until the party at Blitzo’s she discovers she’s pregnant!
This revelation has left fans overjoyed at Millie and Moxxie becoming parents. Plus, it makes way for some interesting story ideas for Season Three. The twist is Millie is distraught over this news and keeps the news from Moxxie. Her actions have led many to believe she could be considering aborting the baby. Of course, devoted Helluva Boss followers hope she comes around and keeps the child. Seeing the I.M.P. grow and having everyone help with the upbringing would be adorable.
Depicting The New Life of Stolas
Sinsmas is a masterful episode with no negative aspects working against it. The only complaint worth mentioning is the montage of Stolas’ time with the lower classes. It should have been a multi-episode arc showcasing the former prince’s struggles with normal society. I’d even feature the tension of Blitzo and Stolas getting along as roommates. Plus, Blitzo acting as Stolas’ guide seems like a recipe for comedy. But we got what we got, and it’s still fantastic and cute.
Final Score and Thoughts
After watching Sinsmas multiple times, I have to give it a 4.9 out of 5. The music was gorgeous, the action was thrilling, and the emotional scenes hit the mark. Millie’s pregnancy and the progressing relationship between Blitzo and Stolas were undeniably the biggest treats. It’ll be intriguing to see how they develop in the next season and beyond. And, hopefully, things between Stolas and Octavia return to normal.
I enjoyed this episode because it tied up loose ends and set up Season Three. I’d love to see how Stolas fits into I.M.P. as the new receptionist. At the same time, seeing Loona participate in more missions will be awesome. It’ll also be interesting to see Millie hide her pregnancy from the others. It could become the new recurring gag throughout Season Three’s episodes and shorts. No release date has been announced, but the next Helluva Boss arc should premiere next year.
