The Harley Quinn season finale begins with Harley reigniting Lex and Lena’s rivalry. Afterward, she, Ivy, and Sharon work on tipping their prison bottle over to break it. Sharon convinces Brainiac to help by explaining that life is chaotic but wonderful. The foursome succeeds and defeats the Luthor siblings by shrinking and knocking them out. After re-sizing, the group discovers Lena set the ship to crash into Brainiac’s home planet. Frankette devours Lena and Lex as the ladies ask Brainiac to stop the collision.

Brainiac refuses and accepts his death with open arms, still swayed by Sharon’s earlier words. The ladies try to persuade him further, but their efforts are in vain. Visions of Koko and Brainiac’s wife and son soon convince him to save his companions. Brainiac gives his ship’s escape to Harley’s trio, who retrieve Metropolis and other shrunken cities. They fly away before Braniac’s skull-ship crashes as he remembers and embraces his loved ones. The escape pod flies toward Earth, but asteroids rupture the hull and devastate the oxygen.

Frankette creates air bubbles for Harley, Ivy, and Sharon, and Ivy repairs the damage. Unfortunately, the young plant cannot produce more bubbles, and the air is running out. More debris further damages their ship, forcing the ladies to realize their unavoidable fate. The escape pod becomes scrap metal, but Superman arrives, saves them, and returns them home. Harlivy and their extended group have a house party in Ivy’s apartment from Season One. Harley Quinn Season Five ends with the couple going into Gotham City to cause havoc.

The Future of Harley Quinn

This Harley Quinn season finale concludes on a happy and satisfying note. The finale scene doesn’t have any loose ends to explore or cliffhangers. Unfortunately, that last aspect can hint that the show has concluded. This episode radiates series finale energy and comes full circle in a Season One location. There hasn’t been any confirmation of a series renewal, so there’s that. It does appear that Harley Quinn has sadly reached the end of its run.

Despite series finale markers and vibes being present, a cancellation announcement hasn’t appeared. Showrunner Dean Lorey stated in an interview that it’s not a finale in his mind. He also said that none of the crew wanted this episode to be the end. Lorey even made a note to mention that there were plans for additional seasons. But he did say this episode would make a good and satisfying conclusion. So until a confirmation comes forth, Harley Quinn is in production limbo.

Final Verdict of Episode and Season

I give this brand-new Harley Quinn finale another, and final, perfect 10! It was touching, had comedic undertones, and satisfied me like any conclusion should. I honestly cannot say anything negative about The Mess is the Point. As for Season 5 itself, I give it a 9.8 out of 10. None of the episodes were horrible and possessed the classic Harley Quinn emotion and energy. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the show gets a sixth season.
