They say family always makes things better and/or is there for you. Unfortunately, this saying does not speak true for the newest episode of Harley Quinn. Harley must deal with her deadbeat father’s antics while Ivy tries to rescue Frankette. The couple later uncovers the possible motivation behind Lena Luthor’s takeover of Metropolis. Hopefully, they can use the new information to stop her from carrying out her plans. But now the question is, will it be enough to take Lena down permanently?
The Harley Quinn Madness Continues
The new Harley Quinn episode, Family Feud, continues. Ivy is furious at Harley for sparing Lena and getting Frankette kidnapped. Afterward, Ivy visits with a now-depressed Bruce to get information about Lena. The eco-terrorist breaks into her new enemy’s apartment but encounters a deadly security system. It isn’t long until Lena learns of her presence and sends drones to finish her. Ivy manages to escape certain death and takes Lena’s journal with her.
Following Ivy’s departure, Harley’s father, Nick Quinzel, calls to inform her about her mother’s passing. Harley returns to her hometown and discovers her mother is alive and well. She attempts to leave, but Nick knocks her out and restrains her inside a warehouse. He reveals Lena hired him to keep her out of Metropolis and away from Ivy. She gets loose before a group of Lena’s hired guns arrive to kill her. Harley fights them off, though her father dies in the crossfire.
Harley and her newly widowed mother, Sharon, regroup with Ivy at the apartment. The couple reconciles and reads through Lena’s journal for answers about her plan. They find plans depicting her brother, Lex Luthor, dying in a painful manner. However, Harley realizes that they can use him as leverage against Lena. The three ladies break Lex out of prison and return to Metropolis. However, they are shocked to discover a massive crater where the city used to be.
Nothing Like Family Issues
The theme of family takes the spotlight in this brand-new installment of Harley Quinn. Its aspects of love and care are the driving force behind Ivy’s actions and mission. All she wants to do is rescue Frankette and avenge Frank by killing Lena. Harley, on the other hand, experiences the opposite when interacting with her father. Her time with Nick consists of daddy issues containing resentment, betrayal, and anger. Surprisingly, Sharon reminds her that families love each other despite any bitterness.
Family is also the motivation behind Lena’s desire to rule over Metropolis. Her journal revealed her rage-filled issues directed at her brother, Lex Luthor. This development suggests her takeover stems from a twisted need to triumph over him. At the same time, Harley realizes Lena’s hate corresponds with a craving for Lex’s approval. Lena may be taking over as a way to impress him. These siblings share a complicated history that the following episode will hopefully explore.
Final Verdict of Family Feud
Once again, I must give a new Harley Quinn episode a perfect 10! Family Feud follows the plot and contains laugh-worthy jokes and a touching lesson about family. It even includes a surprise homage to a classic joke from The Simpsons. Another strong point is that it keeps Nick thumbless from his Season One appearance. Only two episodes remain in Harley Quinn Season Five, leading to an exciting finale. I’ll cover them and analyze their themes, stories, and characters.
