Harley Quinn Episode 7 Review

Harley Quinn Season 5

So far, every episode of Harley Quinn Season Five has entertained its fans. There has been excitement, laughter, heartfelt moments, and surprises around almost every corner. This week’s episode, Frankette, follows this tradition and provides fans with everything. We discover who killed Frank the Plant and meet a brand-new character. And most importantly, a particular individual takes their first steps toward absolute villainy. Are you ready to learn more about these new developments in Season Five?

An Exciting Season Five

This new season of Harley Quinn starts with Harley and Ivy crashing a Metropolis party. They stay after Lena Luthor offers Ivy a job enhancing the city’s greenery. Ivy is excited but must work with an ex-lover who betrayed her. She tries to kill him in revenge but accidentally mutates him into the Floronic Man. She and Frank fight him, and Harley finishes him by chopping him into pieces. Immediately, Harley and Ivy encounter Brainiac, an android obsessed with perfecting the glittering utopia.

He attempts to terminate Harley, though Lena intervenes and reveals their partnership. Brainiac returns the couple home with no memory of what recently transpired. Unfortunately, Harley has nightmares about Brainiac’s skull-shaped spaceship looming over her. Lois Lane learns of Harley’s dreams and asks her to help investigate them further. Lena and Brainiac dissolve their partnership, and she tells Harley about his endgame plan. Clayface uses this information to create a musical that ends with Frank’s murder.

Recapping the New Episode

This brand-new Harley Quinn episode opens at Frank’s funeral with many characters in attendance. Afterward, Ivy vows to find his killer, and a miniature female Frank sprouts before everyone. She’s named Frankette and placed in Harley and Ivy’s loving care despite the latter’s reluctance. Harley tends to their new addition and the runaway Shaun back at their apartment. In the meantime, Ivy searches The Green for Frank to help find his killer. Lena arrives and tells them that Brainiac killed the sentient plant because she ruined Metropolis.

After leaving Frankette and Shaun with Bane, Harley and Ivy board Brainiac’s ship. They eventually confront him, and he begins destroying Metropolis with his drones. The couple shrinks him, but his robots keep demolishing each building individually. Brainiac reveals that Lena killed Frank, and Ivy leaves to avenge him but fails. Frank’s ghost appears and implores Ivy to protect Frankette and save her revenge for later. This situation also allows Lena to board the starship and deactivate the drones.

Harley tries to handle Lena afterward, but Lena teleports her to a now-saved Metropolis. Back home, Harley and Ivy tend to Frankette, whom Ivy bonded with earlier. Ivy still intends to revenge-kill Lena as Harley reveals Lena was the city’s savior. As the couple argues, a Brainiac drone takes Frankette back to the ship. Lena admits she took the young plant to cause friction and separate the lovers. She begins gloating over the miniature Brainiac as the ship connects with her brain.

Ivy Deals with Frank’s Death

For Harley Quinn, Frankette is the episode that addresses the grief following someone’s passing. You see this story in any show that kills off a beloved, long-lasting character. This rendition focuses on Ivy since she was Frank’s parent and best friend. Her grieving mainly manifested itself as a desire to locate his murderer and kill them violently. It also caused her to make reckless decisions like facing Brainiac in a plantless environment.

Lastly, Ivy’s grief compelled her to keep Frankette at arm’s length during her revenge mission. The sprout was an unwanted replacement for her loved one in her eyes. Ivy only finally accepts Frankette after getting closure with Frank in The Green. The pair bonded during Brainiac’s attack on Metropolis, helping the eco-terrorist move forward. She started acting motherly toward Frankette, who called her ‘Mama’ in return. Of course, Ivy is still determined to avenge Frank by painfully killing Lena.

Lena Becomes the Newest Big Bad

Harley Quinn fans shouldn’t be surprised that Lena Luthor finally became a villain. We’ve been waiting for it since Breaking Brainiac revealed her connection to Brainiac. But when she did, Lena went big by de-throning Brainiac and hijacking his ship. She now has power comparable to a god and can rule Metropolis like one. The only question is whether Lena will be satisfied ruling a single city.

If Lena is anything like her brother, Lex, she could extend her power across the Earth. The idea wouldn’t be farfetched since Lena is related to the Lex Luthor of Harley Quinn. Lex is egotistical, unstable, sexist, and a genuine sociopath. He once waged a petty war against Ivy last season because she stole his spotlight. If he’s that bad, there’s no telling how crazy and dangerous his sister is. We can only hope her reign ends during the next episode of Harley Quinn.

Final Verdict on Harley Quinn 5×07

I must give the new episode of Harley Quinn a perfect 10! There’s nothing bad I can say about this installment starring DC Comics’ famous Harlequin. There was much exciting action, the occasional laugh, and some touching moments. It even presents some intriguing potential now that Lena is Season Five’s endgame villain. But with only three episodes left, there’s no telling what will happen next. I’ll bring you the next installment of Harley Quinn coverage once the new episode premieres.
