Happys Place star Reba McEntire is not only a well-known country singer, she’s an established actress, a philanthropist, and an all-around bootkickin’ celebrity. She’s been in numerous movies, television shows, and even was Annie Oakley in the 2001 Broadway theatre production of Annie Get Your Gun. She then starred on TV in Reba from 2001 to 2007. In 2024, she started producing and starring in Happys Place, a sitcom on network TV.
What is Happys Place About?
Reba plays Bobbie, a divorcée, whose father passes away. Her father, named Happy, left her a tavern in Tennessee, so she went to check it out. She then discovers that she is not just the new owner of it: she is a co-owner with a half-sister she never knew she had!
Belissa Escobedo plays Isabella, her half sister. Part of Happys Place’s premise is about the two of them trying to navigate their relationship while running the bar. With the aid of Gabby, the bartender, played by Reba alum Melissa Peterman, and a few other cast regulars, the show is a thoughtful comedy set in a Knoxville bar.
There are a few other familiar faces rounding out the cast. Steve Howey (from Reba) portrays Danny, Gabby the bartender‘s friend. Christopher Rich, also from Reba, plays Maverick, a local tattoo artist. Additionally, Rex Linn, Reba’s real-life significant other, plays Emmett, a cook. Rex and Reba appeared together in Big Sky.
Who Are Happys Place Upcoming Guest Stars?
With the success of season one, Happys Place was renewed for a second season. Season two looks like it will have some funny guest stars, as well as the familiar faces whom we’ve seen. Lined up so far are Justina Machado, playing Maritza, Isabella’s mom, and Emma Kenney, cast as Gracie, Bobbie’s daughter. Gracie has just come back from being deployed.
Kevin Abbott, Happys Place showrunner, said in part:
Those two, especially Maritza and Gracie, are going to come back because I love the actresses. They were phenomenal. Their chemistry with our cast was marvelous, and the backstory behind them is going to be really interesting.
With the addition of these characters and more exciting upcoming guest stars, it looks as though season two will be both fun and enthralling. The show will get to branch out with new characters, but also stay close to the heart of the story and the tavern.
