‘Not an Indian artist but an artist from India.’ That is what Hanumankind told everyone when he was asked about his representation. Originally from Kerala, India, and raised in Texas, USA, the rising star in the hiphop scene, is making quite a noise worldwide. From getting recognized on reels and YouTube shorts, Hanumankind has now placed his feet in the mainstream music. So much so, that he was given a hug upon his meet and greet with the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, at the US-India event in Houston, Texas.

But how is one guy suddenly rising out of nowehere? Moreover, that he is uniting the west with the east and making the ‘unaware,’ aware about the things they have been missing all this time. It is simply a unique visual to witness in the artistic world that is showing the power that the entire world is a one single place.

Wait a Minute, Get It How You Live It: The Beginning of Hanumankind

Now even as a regular music listener, anybody from India couldn’t have imagined the lines, “Wait a minute, Get it how you live it,” being sung by an Indian. Probably scrolling through short form videos, it was almost impossible to recognize an Indian voice, until you see the mentions. But as fate has it, we all listened to it in every second reel, that we had to search for it. And, that was it, the beginnig of recognizing Hunumankind. The American accent, followed by clean lyrics, unique husky style, and something that made all of us proud in a way.

On the contrary, when you watch the video, the Indian representation in the song was something that was applauded by everybody. Furthermore, the reach it made because of the content creators constantly plugging the song, made a lot of people realize about the culture of the east. Therefore, it was exactly what was needed, a boost for a new upcoming talent to shine across countries.

Run It Up, Sun is Up: Game Changer for Hanumankind

This is where Hanumankind has taken things up a few knotches. His second single, Run it Uphas single-handedly put India on the World Map. If you haven’t heard the song yet, check it out here. It’s a perfect amalgamation of the artist’s skills along with his native country’s beauty, i.e. India. The way the song is depicting the old-yet-rich Indian Martial Arts, dating back thousands of years, is nothing short of a spectacle.

This is what has attracted a big chunk of audience outside of India, that was never aware of this part of Hanumankind’s native country. Along with his singing skills, music, especially the heavy bass (and drums), and the lyrical genuis, Hanumankind has proven yet again, that is here for the long run.

A Small Little Background of Hanumankind

Born in Kerala, Hanumankind, aka, Sooraj Cherukat, lived in a few different countries before settling down in the US. From second grade onward, he lived in Texas and that’s why he has the accent and not a desi one. As far as his stage name is concerned, it is been inspired from one of the most beloved Hindu Gods, Hanuman.

Before becoming this famous, the 33-year-old rapper and singer had started performing way back in 2019. The famous NH7 weekender, is where he was first noticed, with his debut album ‘Kalari’ releasing the same year. He also had collaborations with the Kannada film, ‘Popcorn Monkey Tiger,’ in the past. After years of hustle, it was his single ‘Big Dawgs’ that got him the worldwide recognition he truly deserved. It will be now interesting to see what banger he delivers next.
