Gwyneth Paltrow Hits Back At Critics After Brand ‘Goop’ Backlash

Gwyneth Paltrow

Many know of the Academy Award-winning actress and renowned businesswoman, Gwyneth Paltrow. She’s starred in countless television shows and movies, including the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One of her performances even won her an Academy Award in the late 90s. And as stated before, she’s an accomplished business entrepreneur with a company called Goop. Paltrow started this lifestyle venture about personal care, cooking, and clothing at home. Goop is vastly successful and popular, but would you believe it’s facing some critical backlash?

The Career of Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth Paltrow, born in Los Angeles, relocated to Massachusetts with her family at age 11. She soon began learning acting under her director-producer father and actress mother. It wasn’t until after leaving college that she pursued a career in performing. Her debut came in the 1989 CBS television movie High before trying for theatrical films. Movies like Shout, Emma, and Se7en allowed her to showcase her full potential and skills. It wasn’t long until she won an Academy Award, an Oscar, and a Golden Globe.

Gwyneth Paltrow starred in varying roles throughout her career, spreading her wings as an actress. She even delved into music while starring in Country Strong and Fox’s musical drama Glee. Paltrow, nowadays, is recognized for her role as the Marvel Cinematic Universe‘s Pepper Potts. However, she’s also renowned for her enterprise, which doesn’t involve her acting prowess.

The brilliant actress founded a company called Goop that focuses on improving wellness. It began as a weekly newsletter that offered advice regarding food and self-care. The business eventually expanded from guiding others to selling products that promote its core values. It features a wide range of items from skin creams to fashionable clothes. It’s very popular despite people’s initial reservations about the counsel it bestowed.

Hitting Back at Critics

Gwyneth Paltrow’s company faced much controversy over various issues since its establishment in 2008. It reached a new high in 2020 with the release of an unusual product. Goop offered a candle that emitted a scent similar to a woman’s intimate area. According to Paltrow, she joked about selling it, though her perfumer took it seriously. The candle caused quite the commotion once it came out, upsetting people for obvious reasons. And despite public disapproval, Paltrow and her company refused to pull the product.

Paltrow still faces criticism even though her company discontinued the candle two years ago. During the recent Mindvalley Manifesting Summit, she defended her product against everyone. The actress revealed she kept the candle to eliminate the shame connected to women’s sexuality. She continued her speech by exclaiming inspirational words about women being awesome and beautiful. And she ended things by telling all remaining critics to ‘go f*** themselves.’

Final Thoughts

I never knew about Gwyneth Paltrow’s candle or the controversy that came with it. Nevertheless, I cannot help admiring her for standing up for her product. It annoys me that people can be so uptight over something massively pointless. You would think human society would worry about more important things than a scented candle. I still have to give props to Paltrow for not letting others put her down. Nothing gets your point across more than an F-bomb in front of a huge crowd.
