Adcock brought up the Apple Music country album chart rankings during his performance. Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter is listed at No. 3, while his album, “Own Worst Enemy,” sits at No. 4. Beyoncé, when promoting her non-GRAMMY award-winning country album. Cowboy Carter was not vocal about previously feeling welcome in the genre. Country singer Gavin Adcock proved that it is still true by slamming the LP, which is charting ahead of his own, during a rant at his recent concert.

“That s—ain’t country music, and it ain’t ever been country music”:

Gavin Adcock said while raising a bottle of alcohol and pointing to his attendees. And if there was any question about him possibly regretting calling out one of the biggest stars in music, his eventual Instagram video discussing his rant proved he meant exactly what he said.

“I’m gonna go ahead and clear this up,” he began, recalling that his mother played a lot of Queen Bey’s music when he was growing up, he was familiar with her catalog, and that he even enjoyed her Super Bowl performances. “But I really don’t believe her album should be labeled as Country Music. It doesn’t sound country, and I just don’t think that people that have dedicated their whole lives to this genre and this lifestyle should have to compete or watch that album just stay at the top, just because she’s Beyonce.”

Beyonce’s response to Gavin Adcock

Beyoncé has not publicly responded directly to Adcock’s comments. However, she previously addressed the broader criticism and lack of welcome when entering the Country Music space. She used this experience as motivation to delve into the history of Country Music and create her album. Beyoncé stated that the criticisms she faced when she first entered the genre forced her to propel past the limitations that were put on her. During her acceptance speech, she expressed hope that the music industry would be more open to the joy and liberation that comes from enjoying art with no preconceived notions.

Final thoughts

Everyone in the entertainment industry should support each other and give them their flowers while they are still alive. All of them are rich and should feel blessed. It shouldn’t matter who does what when it comes down to the Music genre. Of course, there have been many entertainers who have delved into different genres. If it sounds good, enjoy it! And keep the peace!
