Hello and I am so excited to see you back for your moon gardening needs. Each week, you can return to read up on the planting recommendations for the coming week. Please remember, depending on where you are located in the world, the exact times/dates may change a little and you should check your lunar calendar to adjust based on where you are located.

Sunday the moon is moving through Capricorn on a descending route as it moves closer to Aquarius on Tuesday, the 30th with Monday being it’s last day in Capricorn for the current cycle. We are fully entrenched in the Root Days!
Sunday and Monday are the perfect days in spring to plant your root vegetables as long as your weather is ready for planting in your area. Root vegetables can be planted before the last frost, in fact it is recommended that you plant seeds/starts like onion, leeks, or lettuce 2 – 4 weeks before the last frost and radishes can be planted as early as 4 weeks prior to the last frost.
Please check the Old Farmers Almanac for your planting zone needs and information. Today is also a great day for adding any fertilizers to your soils or helpful sprays to your plant leaves if you are at that point in your plants lives.
- Now is the time to plant things like beets, carrots, turnips, radishes, onions, and any other roots crops you want to grow.
- It is also the perfect time for transplanting crops from your green house to your garden area if your weather permits you do to so.
- The moon is currently in apogee and the farthest from the planet, again making it the best time to sow seeds, bulbs and starts.

As we move into Aquarius, an air sign, and the flower days, it is time to clean those garden beds, yards, and other garden areas. This is the time to pull weeds, briars, poison ivy and other plants that you consider to be pests.
I do need to add to this, however, a little reminder. Weeds are only flowers (plants) no one seems to want. Make sure you are not removing plants that could be beneficial to your environment like dandelions or goldenrod which bees love.
Why are we not planting the airy above ground flowers and plants you ask? Well, this is a good time for this if you are, in fact, in an area to do so. In my area and much of the world, it is still a little to early to plant these delicate things. If you are, however, in an area where you can start these plants, now could be a good time to do so.
- Today pull those weeds and get rid of those unwanted pests, still an important part of gardening.
- This is not a time for planting in much of the northern hemisphere, this is a time for removing. This is because in most areas it is still to cold with a danger of frost apt to happen.
- The moon is currently in apogee and the farthest from the planet, again making it the best time to sow seeds, bulbs and starts of your weather allows you to do so.
- If you are in a place where you have something to harvest, Wednesday the 1st is a good day for this.

And here we are at the end of the week and we have now moved into Pisces. Pisces, as a water sign, means it’s time to work with leaf crops like lettuces, vines, and even strawberries. This is the perfect time to set strawberry plants, plant those vines and you can also get in those late root crops that you might have missed earlier in the week.
Please, again, make sure you check your planting zone calendar as well as your weather calendar to make sure you are beyond your last frost for those delicate plants that can’t stand up to a frost.
- Time to plant those leaf and vine crops as long as your weather permits it.
- You can also finish up any root crops you may have missed.
- The moon is currently in apogee and the farthest from the planet, again making it the best time to sow seeds, bulbs and starts of your weather allows you to do so.
This Week’s Closing Notes
This week is such a fun week when it comes to gardening. Depending on where you live, you should be able to have many things out in your garden beds or in your yard. If you are not quite there, yet, then you can move forward with these tips in your greenhouse, or as I have done for so many years, on your kitchen table. I do now have a green house but my kitchen table served for many springs over the years.
This gardening horoscope is written for the northern hemisphere and while the rules will be the same, the dates/times of year, of course will change. As I work through setting these articles up over the next few weeks, I will be adding information for the southern hemisphere as well. Please watch for this addition over the next couple of weeks.
The following is this week’s gardening plan based on the constellation, descension/ascension, and the details we discussed in Gardening By the Moon #1: An Easy Astrological Guide.
Happy gardening and may the blessings of spring bring happiness to your heart, curiosity to your mind, and magic into your life.
