D.mon in the Overwatch Hero Gameplay Trailer

In accordance with their new seasonal model, a new hero is coming to Overwatch. Season four: Heroes of Busan features a partner-in-crime to D.Va. D.mon is Overwatch’s newest hero. She is a Tank hero; the first added to the game since Season 1 with Domina’s release. D.mon is an Overwatch MEKA agent who becomes one of two heroes to have a Mech and Human form.

Overwatch: D.mon’s Kit Breakdown

Upon first glance, D.Mon is a hybrid dive/brawl Tank. She has similar abilities to those of D.Va and Reinhardt combined. Overwatch developers confirmed that she will have the Stalwart Subrole passive as per comments during Emongg’s live stream.

Stalwart – Subrole Passive

Gain knockback and slow resistance.

Plasma Saber (In Mech Primary Fire) – Fast energy melee weapon

D.Mon’s primary fire while inside the Mech. It will be your main source of damage if you can get in melee range of characters.

Portable Fusion Repeater (Out of Mech Primary Fire) – Heavy Machine Gun

After being demeched, D.Mon has a Heavy Machine Gun to fight back against her foes and attempt to regain her Mech.

Power Barrier (In Mech Ability) – Hold a Front Energy Barrier

Functions similarly to Reinhardt’s Shield. D.Mon can activate the Barrier and move forward to close the gap on her enemies. Activating Power Barrier allows you to cast Surging Strike.

Propulsors (In Mech Ability) – Consume fuel to surge in any horizontal direction.

D.Mon has a fuel tank, like Pharah. She can cast Fusion Repeater while activating Power Barrier. It will be her best tool to reach enemies.

Surging Strike (In Mech Ability) – While Power Barrier is deployed, strike forward to damage and push enemies back.

A tool to both increase D.Mon’s damage as well as give her space against other melee characters.

Limit Break (In Mech Ultimate) – Unleash a sweeping lash that grants self-overhealth and amplifies damage taken by enemies.

It will likely be a great tool to win teamfights with the click of a button. While five-player ultimates can shift the fight, even using this ultimate on one enemy can be a guaranteed fight win. Its survivability requires testing.

Call Mech (Out of Mech Ultimate) – Reassemble Mech

It should work almost identically to D.Va’s Call Mech. It should be a lower-cost ultimate. However, one difference is that the Mech is assembled instead of landing on the ground. It will likely not have damage tied to the remech.

Eject! (In Mech Passive) – Eject out of your Mech when it is destroyed.

When D.Mon’s Mech dies, she ejects out of it and equips the Portable Fusion Repeater. Deal damage to build Ultimate charge and use Call Mech to remech.

D.Mon’s Perk Breakdown

As with every hero, D.Mon has four perks, two minor and two major.

Minor Perks

  • Blast Within
    • Plasma Saber hits heal Power Shield by 40 health.
  • Meka Mobility
    • While holding Power Shield, Propulsors fuel cost is reduced by 30%.

Major Perks

  • Overstrike
    • Surging Strike gains 150% lifesteal.
  • Focused Fusion
    • Fusion Repeater fires stronger shots with no spread at a slower rate.
