State of Play Reveals Silent Hill Townfall Trailer

PlayStation’s State of Play revealed a ton of new games and trailers for upcoming games for 2026. One of the biggest reveals during State of Play was the reveal of the newest installment in the Silent Hill series, Silent Hill Townfall. With the reveal of the trailer, Konami has announced that this game will be released sometime this year. Here’s all that was revealed in the trailer during PlayStation’s State of Play.

Konami has been really busy lately, releasing Silent Hill f last September, and now, announcing a new Silent Hill game during this year’s State of Play. I guess Konami wasn’t kidding when they said their goal was to release a new Silent Hill game every year, and they are off to a pretty good start. Silent Hill Townfall is the newest upcoming title in the franchise that will be released sometime this year, according to the trailer.

The trailer opens with a pocket television sitting on a desk, where we learn the main protagonist’s name, Simon Ordell. Like every Silent Hill game, our protagonist is lured to the Silent Hill-like town of St. Amelia. It seems Simon is returning to the town of St. Amelia; however, things are different from how he remembers. The town has that iconic, creepy fog, and it seems like St. Amelia is abandoned, with the only other voice we hear being a woman’s through the pocket television Simon carries around.

The town of St. Amelia harbors dark secrets closely tied to Simon’s past and his connection to the town. In his own words, Simon is called back to the island to “put things right”, whatever that means, as he encounters terrifying monsters and haunting secrets of his past. One of the most exciting reveals about this psychological horror is the switch to first-person gameplay, a first for the Silent Hill franchise.

First-Person Gameplay Reveal

The trailer revealed snippets of gameplay footage of Silent Hill Townfall, playing as Simon, and this will be the first mainline story in the franchise to be entirely in first-person perspective. We don’t get to see much from the reveal trailer; however, it seems we can wield different weapons, including a handgun, which means combat will be played from this perspective, a new but exciting challenge for longtime fans of Silent Hill who are used to looking at the series in third-person.

Here’s what Jon McKellan, writer and director at Screen Burn Interactive, has to say about Silent Hill Townfall’s reveal trailer, speaking with PlayStation:

As shown in the latter part of the reveal trailer, the gameplay is experienced directly through the protagonist’s eyes in first person, in a change that we felt best matched our narrative, puzzle and design intentions.

Environments feel rich with detail as players search for clues, while narrative-driven puzzles feel tactile and intricate, requiring an attention to detail that only this viewpoint could provide.

The CRTV especially could only truly work in first person, allowing the player to raise it into view while they explore, tune into signals and discover broadcasts, and gain an advantage in otherwise terrifying situations.

Silent Hill Townfall is the newest installment in the iconic horror franchise by Konami. Townfall’s reveal comes months after the success of Silent Hill f, which rings some truth to Konami declaring they will release a new Silent Hill game every year. This time, Konami will be working with Screen Burn Interactive and Annapurna Interactive for this game’s development, and I know fans cannot wait for more updates on the game coming soon.
