Poppy Playtime Chapter 5 Immediately Opens with a Chase Scene – Successfully Run Away from Huggy Wuggy Full Guide
Poppy Playtime Chapter 5 made its full release a couple of days ago, and it’s already become Steam’s global top seller, and for good reason. I had the opportunity to play Poppy Playtime Chapter 5, and I had an absolute blast playing it. It was super engaging and scary as hell, exactly what you would expect from a Poppy Playtime chapter.
One thing I definitely did not expect, and was not at all prepared for, especially once I was able to move in the game, was a full-on Huggy Wuggy chase sequence, which was super scary, and had my anxiety doing backflips off of balance beams. I’ll admit, I died… many times (10 times). The sequence was actually really difficult. So, how do you successfully run away from Huggy Wuggy? Here’s a full guide on completing the opening chase sequence in Poppy Playtime Chapter 5.
Opening Chase Sequence Full Guide

1. Run Down the Hallway
Once you start a new game, you’re immediately thrust into the ending scene of Poppy Playtime Chapter 4, being trapped in a room, while Huggy is trying to bust down the metal door you came through. Now, to set the scene, alarms are going off, and Huggy is beating a metal door while screaming at us, as shown in the screenshot above. It’s only when Huggy fully breaks down the door that the door behind us will open, leading us down a hallway, with the game telling us to sprint using the shift key.
2. Go Through the Large Hole in the Wall
The fact that Poppy Playtime Chapter 5 started immediately with a chase sequence was bold. I died a few times before I realized there was a door behind us. As you run down the hallway, turn left when you can. There will be a large hole in the wall full of debris, and this is when we are shown some tutorials of the game, like how to jump, crouch, and grab things with the grab pack. Keep jumping up the path through the hole in the wall, turn left again, then crouch through a smaller hole.
The metal fence bridge will lead you to a dead end, but if you turn your camera right and look down, there will be a small hole you can crawl through. It’s pretty easy to miss, so look carefully (this is also where I died a few more times). Once you crawl through, you’ll end up falling through the floor and end up on a conveyor belt, coming face-to-face with Huggy through a window.
3. Follow the Conveyor Belt
The first part of the conveyor belt will have large crushers. Just crouch, and you’ll get through just fine. After you get through, the game will pop up a tutorial on how to grab and pull damaged structures to create a pathway for yourself, which is what you have to do. I died many times during this part, partly due to skill, mostly because I was bugged, and the game would not let me pull the structure out of the way.
4. Scan Your Hands
By this time, Huggy will still be chasing you, so keep moving. After you move to another conveyor belt, this will also bereally easy to miss, but you have to scan your blue hand on your grab pack. Keep following the path until you reach the vents, which you can drop into, but not before Huggy takes a swipe at you. Follow the path through the vents, then you’ll reach a slide that will drop you into a room, effectively ending the first part of the chase sequence.
Chase Sequence Part 2
Yes, there is a second part to this chase sequence. Poppy Playtime Chapter 5 didn’t hold anything back, making this the most extended chase sequence in the Poppy Playtime series. After escaping Huggy the first time and finding your way through a deeper level of the factory, Huggy does eventually find you again, as he reaches through a grate in the ceiling trying to grab you.
1. Wait for His Hand to Retract, then Run
When he reaches for you through the ceiling, his arm will stay there for about 5-10 seconds, and then he’ll retract his arm. That’s when you run. Again, you’ll end up on another conveyor belt, and you have to follow the path, scanning your red hand this time. You’ll need to do this twice, consecutively. The conveyor belts will also be moving against your direction, so it’ll be harder to run. Once you’re through, Huggy will already be right in front of you, so you cannot waste time.
2. Reach the Elevator
Once you’re through the conveyor belts, immediately turn left, and you’ll have to swing across the broken bridge, taking you to the door of an elevator. After you swing, Huggy will turn around and leave you alone. You’ll enter a small room that will disinfect you. Afterwards, the door will open to a room that will have a few pipes spewing fire, which you’ll have to turn off using valves. You’ll have to turn off two. When you’ve turned off both, Huggy will bust through a wall, prompting another chase scene leading towards the elevator.
3. Keep Dodging Huggy’s Hands

Once you’re in the elevator, Huggy will start immediately attacking, trying to reach you through numerous holes he’ll keep making in the elevator. I died many times during this sequence because I could never figure out where his arm would pop in next, but you just have to keep dodging him. At one point, the elevator will stop and partially open, showing you a panel where you can scan your red hand. After you scan, Huggy will grab your red hand, ripping it off, and sending the elevator plummeting until we’re knocked unconscious, and this will have been the prologue of Poppy Playtime Chapter 5.
