The Next Dead by Daylight Chapter Will Have Fans in the Community Design the New Characters
Dead by Daylight has already made a splash this year, with the release of the Dead by Daylight x Stranger Things collab last month. Now, Behaviour Interactive is gearing up for a huge update in Dead by Daylight, with a new chapter to continue the storyline. Before the devs work on anything, they’ve decided to put a little spin on the development of this update by including the community in certain decisions of this next chapter. Dead by Daylight Next Chapter Development
We all know that Behaviour Interactive is working on a new update for Dead by Daylight. This update will continue the game’s storyline with a brand-new chapter and introduce the next six heroes who will join the fray and enter the fog. The next chapter is still in early development, so there isn’t much known about this upcoming update. However, it’s definitely in the works, given Behaviour Interactive’s latest announcement that they want the community to be part of the development of this new chapter.
Behaviour Interactive Opens Voting For Fans
Last Thursday, Deadlock reprised its in-game voting table, where players can vote on which of the next six heroes will release first. Then, on Friday, Dead by Daylight opened up a voting booth of its own where players can select the appearance for the next killer and survivor. On the Dead by Daylight website, the devs introduce the concept of voting with interactive content. The website opens with the line,

Every time you click on the page, it takes you further into the grimoire, where you’d be able to select different ideas behind the creation of the new characters that will appear in the new Dead by Daylight chapter. There are four possible choices for the survivor. The figures are all scarred and grizzled to varying degrees, and they come with flavorful taglines if you expand the image: “Oft underestimated, your particular insights gave you an advantage in the wasteland,” one reads.
The description for the new survivor nicknames them “a spiritual scientist” and “a divine investigator from a collapsed world.” The three designs for the new killers include a winged angel with a halo and spiky legs, a slightly different winged angel with a blindfold, and a screaming face in a black cloud accompanied by huge floating hands. Dead by Daylight New Grimoire Chapter Latest News
The first phase of the project revolved around selecting the character backgrounds, motivations, and the general mechanics of the Killer’s Power. On the Killer side, the community voted for an Otherworldly character. It was decided that this Killer would be Divine in nature, marking a thematic first for Dead by Daylight. On the Survivor side, the character was chosen to be a spiritual scientist, driven to find meaning in the divine.
Behaviour Interactive has created a roadmap for the new update and has indicated when everything is expected to be completed. By February 19, it’s expected that the Killer and Survivor final concept will be completed, and the Killer, Survivor, and Chapter name will be revealed. The final part of the roadmap will reveal the Killer mori and the chapter logo sometime in March.
Dead by Daylight has an incredibly large following and a dedicated fanbase. Over 560,000 fans voted during this process, indicating the fervor and excitement the community has for the upcoming chapter.
