Killing Floor 3 Releases Third Season Update Titled Operation: Deep Freeze
Tripwire has recently released information on the newest seasonal update for Killing Floor 3, and it’s about to get a lot more chilly. The newest seasonal update, titled Operation: Deep Freeze, is available to download and play now on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, the PlayStation 5, and the Xbox Series. Here’s all you need to know about the third season update for Killing Floor 3.
Third Season Update – Operation: Deep Freeze

The Spring update for Killing Floor 3 went live last week, and here are all the cool things Tripwire has added to the game in this update.
Narrative Mission
“Operation: Deep Freeze” is where the evil Dr. Moorcroft and his Mire experiments have been tracked down. As Nightfall agents, you have to track down the unstable scientist in this new, unforgiving Arctic map. You have to uncover his latest extradimensional experiments and stop him before he achieves his evil plans.
Combat Pace Update
Tripwire has made changes to combat and Zeds. All Zeds have seen a reduction in their health, while their damage and spawn rates have been increased, making teamwork and mastering fundamentals even more important during matches.
Survival Map
The Antarctic Base is an expansive new map at an abandoned scientific research base, with an attached dig site. You’ll get to explore the ins and outs of this research facility while fighting off Zeds in the Arctic snowstorm.
New Characters and Zeds
New Specialist – Masterson III is the former Horzine Chief of Security. After being scapegoated for the Clamefield outbreak and publicly ousted, he begrudgingly joined Nightfall, and he is back for Operation: Deep Freeze.
New Zed – The Scavenger is a new Zed made just for this third season update to Killing Floor 3. Scavengers hunt in packs and prioritize attacking already wounded targets with their deadly claws and lingering toxic fumes. Scavengers are also heavily armored, so you have to expose their weak points to do any real damage to them.
New Boss – The Alpha Scavenger is the newest boss in Killing Floor 3. They are an evolved version of Scavengers, much larger with more deadly attacks. The Alpha Scavenger cannibalizes its own dead, giving them temporary regenerative properties, making them even stronger.
New Weapons
New Weapon – The Tekko-Kagi (Ninja) is a pair of retractable claws with three blades on each. As a close combat weapon, it has a higher risk and reward. The blades can be customized with different status afflictions. The new mods include:
- Blades: Thermal Edge, Frost Reaper, Bone Claws (Zed Tech)
- Grips: Power Reservoir, Affliction Booster, Overcharge Cell
- Guards: Energy Syphon (Zed Tech), Reinforced Guard, Shredder Guard
New Weapon – M-97 Trench Gun (Firebug) is a new shotgun, which allows players to hold down the fire button to simultaneously fire and feed new shells into the chamber, and it uses Incendiary Shotgun rounds. The new mods include:
- Ammunition: Buckshot
- Barrel: Spiked Choker, Bayonet
- Dual-wield Sidearms Phase 1: In preparation for the Gunslinger class, this update gives players the option to purchase and dual-wield two sidearms. The first two weapons added are the Commando’s reliable Bloodhound P330 and the Engineer’s fully automatic Krait pistol. More weapons will be supported in future updates.
New Survival Option
Long Duration is a new survival option added to Killing Floor 3. The “Long” option features 10 rounds of increasingly difficult Zeds, with a final boss battle at the end of the 10 rounds.
Season Three Supply Pass with Comic Book Reader
Buy the Supply Pass to earn 100 new rewards, which include both free and paid tracks. Supply Passes can be purchased with Supply Points. The newly added Comic Book Reader is available as part of the free rewards track, digging deeper into the lore of the terrifying world of Killing Floor.
