2 Decades Of ASUS’ ROG: Historic Party at Computex
Some might not be aware, but the Republic of Gamers, often shortened to ROG, was established by ASUS in July of 2006. The goal was to create specialized hardware that had high performance with gamers in mind. From the first product, the Crosshair motherboard, to their expanded catalog of gaming accessories and hardware, ASUS kept gamers as the core tenet of what works. This year marks 2 decades of gamer-focused innovation, shaping the gaming sphere.
So what better way to celebrate such a milestone than a press event and party at Computex 2026?
A Celebration Bash: Looking Back To Go Forward
In a press release on May 11, 2026, ASUS ROG announced a 20-year anniversary press event and party at Computex 2026. The party will be on June 1, 2026, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. (GMT+8), bringing together the media, fans, and members from the gaming community. Building from the Dare to Innovate launch event, showcased at CES 2026 on January 5, 2026, the press release says they are bringing the celebration to ROG’s original roots at Syntred Creative Park in Taipei. This location has been a major hub for Taiwan’s PC-building and tech enthusiast community.
ROG says it’s possible the Crosshair motherboard was sold in the area two decades ago. That would make it a nostalgic venue for the big event with historic impact, celebrating 20 years in the computer and tech sphere by bringing everything back where it all began. ASUS Chairman Jonney Shih will open the event, with host Ned Luke, the actor who plays Michael in Grand Theft Auto V. The celebration will look at where ROG began, with its growth from pupal stage to full-blown butterfly as it grew with the gaming community, to ROG’s vision of what is yet to come.
After the press event and hands-on demos, the ROG party will focus on bringing everyone together to celebrate. They hope gamers, enthusiasts, and media from across the globe join the fun and get a glimpse of what the next chapter has in store for gaming. ROG will have a booth during Computex 2026, June 2-5, at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center in Hall 1 on floor 4, booth M0504 from 9:30 a.m.- 5:30 p.m. (GMT+8).
A Blast From The Past
According to TweakTown, they found a social media post from ASUS teasing a new edition of the ROG Crosshair motherboard from 2006. This reimagination of their first motherboard is expected to bring the past into the present with powerful and impressive features crafted for the modern enthusiast. TweakTown notes that the ROG Crosshair set the tone and the brand’s trend for stylishly powerful gear, noting its bright copper heatsink covering the voltage regulator module (VRM), northbridge, and southbridge.
The image showcases a copper heatsink with 20 anniversary and 2006 printed on it, adding weight to TweakTown’s statements about this blast from the past. The design in the teased image also hints that the reimagined version will ship with a full-color display showcasing an animated version of ROG’s classic logo. Sadly, there hasn’t been much chatter outside of this sneak peek that really solidifies the ROG team paying homage to the origin story of the gaming-centered team.
While details are limited on what is happening for the big 2-0 anniversary, ROG ASUS has been releasing articles highlighting what the Republic of Gamers has done. From their massively popular early motherboards to the expansion into laptops, graphics cards, and a spot in the computer-screen sector, they have tackled a lot. With the emphasis being on creating performance that gamers and enthusiasts alike can love at a price that doesn’t completely break the bank, ROG has turned the gaming ecosystem into a place where many find exactly what they’re looking for.
Whether you are a fan, gamer, enthusiastic hobbyist, or a member of the media looking for the scoop, this celebration might be the place to be.
