Overwatch Season 1 Hero Guide: Becoming a Hashimoto Master As Mizuki
The release of Season 1 of Overwatch, Reign of Talon, introduced five new characters. One of those characters is Mizuki. Mizuki is a member of the Hashimoto who could sway to Overwatch’s side. Mizuki’s playstyle is more that of an aggressive support. He deals damage to increase his healing potency and passively heals his team. Mizuki’s playstyle can be tricky, but we have you covered.
Overwatch: Mizuki Kit Breakdown

Remedy Aura – Heals nearby allies. The Healing scales with resources generated by dealing damage and healing
Remedy Aura is the way Mizuki will passively heal his teammates. Ensuring that his passive is at max stacks is imperative. It will not only help teammates but also increase Mizuki’s survivability. Spamming angles for any damage is the best way to maintain uptime.
Survivor – Using a movement ability activates passive health regeneration.
The subrole passive will help Mizuki get out of sticky situations. The instant health regeneration significantly increases the chance of survival.
Spirit Glaive – Throw a spinning blade that can bounce off walls, impact enemies, and rapidly deal damage.
Mizuki’s predominant source of Remedy Aura generation. He lacks the same damage threat that a support like Kiriko or Zenyatta provides. However, consistent shots can threaten lower health targets. The shots have a maximum distance range, so keep that in mind.
Healing Kasa – Throw your hat to heal an ally, bouncing to nearby allies and healing you when it returns.
Healing Kasa is Mizuki’s way of burst healing a target or enabling an ally on a flank. The bounce can also help keep Mizuki alive when he is in desperate need of healing. Try to ensure that you have at least one Healing Kasa available, similar to Brigitte’s Repair Packs.
Katashiro Return – Leap forward, leaving behind a paper doll. Reactivate to return and gain increased movement speed while active.
Mizuki’s only form of mobility. You can use the ability in two ways. Either offensively to take an angle, or defensively to get out of trouble. Mastering the understanding of how to use Katashiro’s Return will increase Mizuki’s Value. Be wary of casting Binding chain or using Primary Fire at the end of the timer if you want to teleport back.
Binding Chain – Launch a tethering chain that hinders the first enemy hit.
The chain briefly hinders and tethers a target. Landing the ability on a Tank can garner value by creating space. However, the better use case is targeting a lower health target. Either use it offensively to secure or pick, or defensively to ward off danger.
Kekkai Sanctuary – Create a sanctuary that heals allies and absorbs enemy projectiles from outside the area.
Kekkai Sanctuary has multiple use cases. It can be reactionary to an ultimate like Pharah’s Barrage, but requires timing. If a team pushes aggressively, it can sustain the team through that aggression. Alternatively, Mizuki can play the Sanctuary as a means to force space.

Overwatch: Aggression Tips For Mizuki
Understanding Katashiro Return
You can adjust the way you Katashiro Return depending on both teams. Against a dive-centric team, you want to keep the ability to be more defensive. If there is no pressure on you, you can use it to take quick flanks and then return to your team. Alternatively, start on a flank and then move towards your team, once you get pressured or they need healing. If you are ever under pressure in matches, keep the cooldown available. The healing from the sub-role passive can help you survive.
Avoid Low Single Target Supports
Mizuki struggles to keep a Tank alive solo. Remedy Aura does not heal fast enough against high burst. Mizuki also can not sustain a long engagement with Healing Kasa. Playing Mizuki with Supports like Ana, Juno, Moira, or Baptiste will free you up. You can now play more as a flanker or with another DPS. Any pressure that you can exert from a different angle will increase your team’s chances of victory.
Off-Angles Are Key
Mizuki does not want to be shooting a shield or a Tank the entire fight. He does not have the damage to help with either. Finding an angle on the enemy DPS or Supports can turn a fight in your favor. Try pairing with a DPS for a dangerous duo. You can keep them alive while under threat. Their presence will also increase your survivability as they can help you fight back. How deep the angles you play will depend on the composition you play against. Against dives, you want to stay closer to your Tank and other support. However, against spam or Brawl compositions, your angles can be deeper.
