LCK Cup 2026 Playoff Match Preview: BFX and Gen.G Battle For A Spot at First Stand

FearX managed to pull off an upset last week in the LCK Cup Playoffs. Now they must go again, against a more impressive foe. T1 has been good so far in the LCK Cup, but they have not been nearly as strong as Gen.G Esports. Gen.G has only lost one game this year. The winner of the series will advance to the Grand Finals and secure a spot at Final Stand.

Recent LCK Cup Match History

BFX, much like other teams, lost 2-0 to Gen.G during the Group Battle. Canyon had one of his best performances of the year. He even stole Drake and Baron with Jarvan’s Demacian Standard. Gen.G may have won the series, but BFX remained competitive throughout.

Bot Lane is The Name of The Game

One of the ways that BFX was successful against T1 was through their bot lane. Both Diable and Kellin outperformed their counterparts in the matchup. In the previous series between Gen.G and BFX, the early laning went in favor of BFX. The team lives and dies by the success of the bot lane. Gen.G’s bot lane of Ruler and Duro is no slouch either. Individually, they are among the best players in their positions. If BFX wants to have a chance against Gen.G, they will once again have to target the bot lane. Diable and Kellin must keep up their momentum against the terrifying Gen.G duo.

Macro Macro Macro

While the individual performances for BFX were outstanding, their macro was more impressive. They had the macro lead over T1 throughout the series. They managed to pull the World Champions all over the map. Every time T1 responded, BFX made a play on the other side of the map or was too fast for T1. The series against Gen.G will be the biggest step in BFX’s macro. No team has had better macro in the LCK in the past few years. Gen.G is known for choking teams out through better map control and having better map movements. If BFX can match or even out-tempo Gen.G, they might have a chance.

Has Chovy Peaked?

Chovy has been consistently the best mid-laner in the LCK for multiple years. Only once he reaches the World Championship stage do the likes of Faker outperform him. When Gen.G were struggling in game four against Dplus KIA, Chovy ascended. He became godlike as he took the game into his own hands. Aurora is not the champion that many consider to be a 1v9 type champion. However, in Chovy’s hands, it became that. In almost every fight, he managed to kill or chunk at least one member of DK. If he is in prime form, VicLa may struggle to match up to Chovy.

Gen.G Esports Versus FearX Prediction

Gen.G Esports 3-1 FearX

If Dplus KIA can take a game off Gen.G, BFX can do the same. They have had better individual and team performances throughout the year. Gen.G’s drafting at the time has been suspect. However, they have the better hand in the majority of their games. They often turn draft into a meaningless activity. BFX has maintained their draft gaps from last year and could gain an advantage in tomorrow’s series. However, the test will be whether they can take a draft win and turn it into a game win.

A Spot At First Stand

Two LCK teams will participate in First Stand this year. As a result, the teams in the Grand Final will represent the LCK. The winner of tomorrow’s series will see them qualify for the Grand Final. The loser will go to Hong Kong, but will wait in the Lower Bracket Final. They will face the winner of the series between T1 and Dplus KIA on Sunday.
