First Stand 2026 Match Preview: Redemption Against A Home Crowd

JD Gaming were embarrassed in their opening series at First Stand. However, their performance was not as bad as it may have seemed. Gen.G Esports dismantled JDG in under 80 minutes. They will need to recover from the disappointing loss in their upcoming series. They are the favorites against Loud in the elimination match. Can JDG silence Brazil and knock Loud out of First Stand?

Recent Match History and Head-To-Head

JD Gaming and Loud have not met each other in an international tournament. Both teams are fresh from a loss in their opening series. Gen.G embarrassed JDG, while Loud almost upset the LCS first seed, Lyon.

Featured Matchup

Xiaoxu Versus Xyno

Xiaoxu had the most impact on their previous series. He earned a couple of solo kills on the best top laner in the world, Kiin. Xyno himself was able to get solo kills over Dhokla. He was the second-best player on Loud against Lyon. If Xiaoxu can keep Xyno quiet, Loud will struggle to beat JDG.

Yet to See JDG’s Potential

JDG’s level against other teams is unknown. All that we know about JDG is that they are worse than Gen.G. Knowing that information is not enough to predict where they stand against other teams. Even though JDG suffered a disappointing defeat against Gen.G Esports, they should be better than Loud. No one should change their expectations of this roster.

The main reason JDG lost the series was Gen.G’s strength. JDG is likely still a top-four team at First Stand. The only team that might be able to challenge that aspect at this point is Lyon. Their performance against Loud will give us a better idea of their level. A close series means JDG is weaker than expected. However, a dominant win means they are one of the top teams at First Stand

Can YoungJae Be the Impact They Need?

YoungJae was the key reason why Loud pushed their series to a fifth game. He had to be a frontline Aatrox. That aspect is something many players have struggled against. Despite that, he played the mid and late-game virtually perfectly. He will be competing against JunJia in the series tomorrow. That may seem an insurmountable task, but he played against Inspired yesterday. Many consider Inspired and JunJia on the same level. The difference is that JunJia has a better team on his side. YoungJae will likely find fewer chances in the laning phase to make an impact. He will need to be clever about his pathing to catch JDG off guard.

Prediction

JD Gaming 3-0 Loud

The only way we see Loud having a chance in the series is if JDG takes the loss badly. If the dominant defeat against Gen.G plays in their minds, they might falter in the series. It will likely require a massive underperformance from JDG for Loud to win the series. A draft gap or strong early game might give them a chance. However, Loud is a team willing to take it to the late-game. Unfortunately for them, they are playing against JDG, who are willing to play late-game. JDG’s teamfighting was better than BLG’s in the LPL. The difference was that JDG fell behind in the early and mid-game.

First Stand Impact

The winner of the series will move to the final match of Group B. They will play against the losing team from the qualification match. Their opponent is either Gen.G Esports or Lyon.
