First Stand 2026 Match Review: Gen.G Are the World’s Best
JD Gaming had a mountain to climb in their first series of First Stand. No team has won a series against Gen.G in 2026. That record continues as Gen.G dominated the series. The closest game was the final one. It was the longest game, but it was still under thirty minutes. JDG is the second seed in the LPL. Gen.G proved they are on a level above everyone. Can Bilibili Gaming or FearX compete with the LCK first seed at First Stand?

Early JDG Dominance
JunJia’s pathing allows him to gank the Gen.G bot lane early. He earns a kill on Duro to shut down the Caitlyn lane. Shortly after, HongQ earns a solo kill on Chovy. After JunJia’s reset, he visits the top lane and earns another kill, this time on Kiin.
GenG’s Clean Teamfight
After the messy early game, Gen.G stabilizes. The gold from Kiin’s First Strike and Chovy’s Twisted Fate passive allows them to be ahead in gold. Their setup for the second Drake fight is immaculate. They push JDG into the position they want them to be. They execute perfectly and crush the teamfight. Three kills later, and Gen.G has a 3k gold lead.
Gen.G Are Flawless
The mid-game from Gen.G is flawless. The way they set up the map for objectives is perfect. They carell JDG into the position they want them to be. Gen.G dominates the Rift Herald and the third Drake fight. As a result, Gen.G leads by 10k gold before 20 minutes. The wallets are too heavy as they win JDG’s desperation fight. Ruler dies, but not without everyone on JDG dying. A Baron is all Gen.G needs to win the game.

A Slow Early Game
JunJia tries to impact the game early by invading Canyon. Even though he steals Krugs, he falls behind. Gen.G builds lane leads across the board. Canyon secures the First Blood Kill on Xiaoxu at 10 minutes. Kiin overstays and dies to JunJia and Vampire’s gank.
JunJia Steals Drake
JDG is late to the Drake, but JunJia steals the Drake. While that is happening, HongQ dies. In the ensuing fight, Canyon, JunJia, and Vampire die. JDG stemmed some of the bleeding with a handful of good plays. One of those includes a solo kill of Xiaoxu on Kiin.
Gen.G Takes Control
Despite the good plays from JDG, Gen.G recovers with one fight. When JDG gets kills, they barely cut the gold lead. When Gen.G kills the lead balloons, they get an extra one or two thousand gold. After taking Baron, Gen.G has a 10k gold lead. Two minutes later, Gen.G ends the game with another teamfight.

The Early Game Explodes
JDG’s laning builds a small gold lead through laning advantages. The first two kills go to Gen.G within seconds of each other. In the next minute, JDG responds with three kills of their own. Two of those happen in the bot lane. Duro dies under Tower, while Ruler oversteps without his Support.
Finally, a JDG Drake Teamfight
After two games, JDG finally won a teamfight. Part of the success is because of Xiaoxu winning the 1v1 against Kiin right before the setup. Unfortunately for them, they lose out on their Drake stacking. JDG is not allowed to set up for the next fight. Duro finds the angle, and the rest of the team follows. Gen.G takes away Baron, the Drake, and two more kills. After a slight JDG gold lead, Gen.G is almost up 4k gold.
Gen.G Ace For A Series Victory
The range and poke damage from Gen.G is too much for JDG to deal with. They lose their health and can not get close to anyone. Gen.G gets an ace and wins the First Stand series.

First Stand 2026: Player Summary

Gen.G Esports
Kiin – 7.7
Kiin’s laning was not as strong as it was during the LCK Cup. However, his teamfighting was immaculate.
Canyon – 7.7
Canyon was solid for Gen.G in the series. In most series, he would get player of the series, but other players had more impressive moments.
Chovy – 8.7
Chovy died solo early in the first game of the series. After that moment, he showed why many consider him the best mid-laner in the world. He earned the player of the series award.
Ruler – 8.3
Ruler had a couple of overaggressive moments in the series, which scaled back his score. His Caitlyn was monumental to help win game one.
Duro – 8.3
The Gen.G drafts rarely gave Duro a chance to have a significant impact in the lane. However, he was monstrous in teamfights.
JD Gaming
Xiaoxu – 6.0
He had impressive moments in the series. He was able to match Kiin, even earning a solo kill against him. He was the reason why JDG had a chance in games two and three.
JunJia – 5.7
JunJia tried to make an impact with early plays. He was successful in the first game, but failed in the rest. His mid-games were not perfect, but Gen.G targeted him.
HongQ – 4.3
HongQ earned a solo kill on Chovy in the first game. He struggled to perform in the rest of the series. Chovy outplayed him throughout.
GALA – 4.7
GALA’s best game was on Corki. Gen.G’s chokehold over the games meant he lacked the space necessary to impact the series.
Vampire – 5.0
Vampire had a decent performance in his first international appearance. Similar to GALA, he had little opportunity to impact the series.
