Caedrel Announces the Disapponting End to the Los Ratones Project After 14 Exciting Months

Caedrel announced the conclusion of the Los Ratones project earlier today. The announcement comes after the team narrowly missed out on an LEC Versus Playoff spot. The team was one win away from qualification, but they faltered on the final day. That brings an end to a 14-month journey, which saw them win multiple NLC and EMEA Masters titles in 2025.

The Los Ratones Story

For those who have been living under a rock, here is a brief background on Los Ratones. The team began in November 2024 as a streamer team, after the end of the World Championship. Los Ratones streamed a vast majority of their scrims and matches in 2025. The roster comprised:

  • Simon “Baus” Hofverberg – Swedish Top Laner
  • Veljko “Velja” Čamdžić – Serbian Jungler
  • Tim “Nemesis” Lipovšek – Slovenian Mid Laner
  • Juš “Crownie“Marušič – Slovenian Bot Laner
  • Carl Martin Erik “Rekkles” Larsson – Swedish Support

Marc “Caedrel” Lamont started as the owner, head coach, and streamer of Los Ratones. For the LEC Versus split, he moved to assistant coach with Jakob “YamatoCannon“ Mebdi taking the hot seat. Under the guidance of Caedrel, Los Ratones won all three NLC titles, not losing a single game in each final. They won two EMEA Masters titles and finished third/fourth in the Summer Split. In the summer, they lost to eventual champions, Karmine Corp Blue.

Los Ratones joined the LEC Versus as underdogs, with many saying they did not belong. Their first four games increased that sentiment. Los Ratones went 0-4, with many expecting a 0-11 split. They turned it around, winning five of their next seven games. Two of those wins came against G2 Esports and Movistar KOI. All they needed was a win on the final day against Team Vitality to qualify. However, they fell short. If the results had gone their way, they would have qualified. Ultimately, they did not.

Caedrel’s Announcement

Speculation followed their exit from the LEC. Many wondered about the future. Today, we got an answer to those questions. Caedrel announced that the journey is coming to an end. In the video, he did not skate around the issue. The way he described the team coming to a close was: “It started with that group and ended with that group”. He also mentioned that the team would not be returning for any future competitions.

There might be future showmatches that they participate in, but that is about it. That does leave the potential for Los Ratones to participate in the Red Bull League of Its Own Event. In the past two events, they participated and defeated T1 in both.

Los Ratones Became a Family

At the end of the announcement video, we got to hear from all the players and Yamato. All of them stated that they would not have traded the experience for anything else. They became a family during the LEC Versus adventure. We should see more content from the players working together in the future, but it will not be under the Los Ratones banner.

The Future of The Players

There is an uncertainty around the player’s future. The majority of them should return to streaming in some capacity. Baus is the most likely to return to only streaming. Velja could pursue a career in the LEC after proving he deserves to play on the stage. Nemesis and Rekkles hinted that Los Ratones is their last competitive team. Crownie has not said if he will continue pursuing a competitive career. However, he did mention that he will try to do more coaching and guides to help players climb.

YamatoCannon also stated that he will not return to coaching unless a significant opportunity presents itself. He would return to the Los Ratones or work in top teams in the LEC or Korea. However, the likelihood that any of those presents an opportunity is low.
