Galactus Revealed in Fantastic Four? First Promo Draws Major Attention

Galactus

Look out the big guy (Galactus) is here!!! Now that Marvel Studios has released Thunderbolts, all eyes are on the next big movie, Fantastic Four: First Steps. So far, what we know about this movie is that it will focus on the Fantastic Four from a parallel Earth to the 616 universe we are accustomed to. They must protect their world from the galactic planet-eater Galactus. Galactus was set to make an appearance in Thor: Love and Thunder, but was scrapped with no official explanation as to why. Concept art and a deleted scene show Jane Foster, played by Natalie Portman, has the Mighty Thor fighting the giant figure.

Galactus Had Appeared

Galactus first made his appearance in Fantastic Four #44 back in 1966 and was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby with further development by Mark Grueneald. Since then, he has been featured on the small and big screen, most notably on the animated Silver Surfer series from the 90s, and has a big cosmic cloud figure in ‘Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer’ from the early 2000s.

This time around, Galactus is being played by Ralph Ineson, who is no stranger to the MCU, previously playing a Ravager Pilot in Guardians of the Galaxy (2014). Ineson has been in movies like Nosferatu (2024), The Pope’s Exorcist (2023), and The Creator (2023), with upcoming films like Frankenstien  (2025) and Two Neighbors (2025) coming soon.

The Look of A Cosmic Being

By the look of his design, Galactus will be a combination of CGI, motion capture, and a practical suit for Ineson to wear. From what can be seen, the filmmakers wanted to get as close to the original design for Galactus. Matt Shakman, the director for FF: First Steps, states in Entertainment Weekly, “I didn’t want to just use motion-capture for Galactus. I wanted to actually have someone there embodying the part. So we’ve built an entire costume for him, and we’ve done a lot of photography testing to figure out, How do you make sure that the scale is correct? How do you film Mount Rushmore?”

What Will See Hope to See

Personally, as someone who went to see the last two Fantastic Four films, I’m happy that the filmmakers and studio want to get this character right.  It’s even more exciting that they are using what they can to bring this giant man-eater to life! The one thing that bugs me though, is how Marvel’s First Family going to beat this galactic hungry man? I guess we’ll have to find out when Fantastic Four: First Steps hits theaters on July 25th, 2025.
