Freddie Mercury’s Alleged Child Revealed in New Biography | May 2025

Freddie Mercury

Freddie Mercury, we found out in May 2025, has a woman claiming to be his daughter. A new biography titled Love, Freddie by Lesley-Ann Jones unveiled a long-held secret about Queen frontman Freddie Mercury: he fathered a daughter in 1976 during an affair with the wife of a close friend.

The woman, referred to as “B,” is now 48 years old and works as a medical professional in Europe. She claims to have had a close and loving relationship with Mercury until he died in 1991.

Freddie Mercury’s Daughter

Her existence was known only to Freddie Mercury’s inner circle, including his bandmates, family, and long-time confidante Mary Austin. According to the biography, Mercury began writing personal journals upon learning of the pregnancy, eventually compiling 17 volumes that he entrusted to “B” before his passing. These journals, chronicling his life from childhood in Zanzibar to his final days, form the basis of the biography. “B” shared their contents to allow Mercury to “speak” for himself and correct misconceptions about his private life.

Biographer Lesley-Ann Jones was initially skeptical and convinced of “B’s authenticity after three years of collaboration, noting that she never sought publicity or financial gain. The biography is set to be released on September 5, 2025.

By sharing these journals now, “B” aims to allow Mercury to “speak” for himself and correct misconceptions about his private life. She emphasizes that this decision was made independently, without coercion, and out of a desire to honor her father’s memory.

Freddie Mercury’s 17 personal journals, entrusted to his daughter “B,” offer an intimate glimpse into the legendary Queen frontman’s life. These diaries span from June 20, 1976, shortly after Mercury learned of B’s conception, to July 31, 1991, just months before his death. They chronicle his journey from childhood in Zanzibar, through his school days in India, to his rise to fame in London.

The journals delve into Freddie Mercury’s thoughts, memories, and feelings, providing insights into his experiences and relationships. They also shed light on his private struggles, including his battle with AIDS. In a letter in the biography Love, Freddie, B explains her decision to share these diaries. She said:

After more than three decades of lies, speculation and distortion, it is time to let Freddie speak… He entrusted his collection of private notebooks to me, his only child and his next of kin.

Freddie Mercury’s life was a dazzling tapestry of contradictions, genius, and unyielding authenticity. As the legendary frontman of Queen, he captivated the world with his powerhouse voice, theatrical flair, and electrifying stage presence. But behind the spotlight, Mercury was an intensely private man grappling with identity, love, and illness. His newly revealed journals, entrusted to his secret daughter and shared through the 2025 biography Love, Freddie, paint a raw and human portrait of a man far more complex than the rock god known to millions.

The revelations of a hidden child and the depth of his reflections serve not to tarnish his legacy but to enrich it. They remind us that Mercury wasn’t just an icon; he was a son, a friend, a lover, and ultimately, a father. His ability to inspire through music remains undiminished, and now, through his own words, he continues to speak with unmatched sincerity and vulnerability. Freddie Mercury remains unforgettable in life and legacy—flawed, fearless, and fiercely loved.

Love, Freddie is scheduled for release on September 5, 2025, and is expected to offer fans and readers an intimate glimpse into Mercury’s life through his own words.
