Fox & Friends, the long-running morning show on Fox News is losing one its longtime hosts, Steve Doocy. Doocy has been with the early morning show since it began in 1996 and has weathered lots of changes within the network and on the news show. Doocy, who turns 70 next year, will still continue to work with Fox & Friends, but in a different capacity. Let’s see what’s in store next for Steve Doocy.
Fox & Friends History
The morning news show Fox & Friends is one of the longest running shows on the Fox News channel. It is co-hosted usually by three or four news anchors, including Steve Doocy, who started in 1996. One of the mainstays of the show is that it features the co-anchors sitting on a large white curved couch as they deliver the morning news. Besides world news, national news, and political commentary, the show features human interest segments, such as cooking and lifestyle pieces. Steve Doocy is known for his love of cooking.
Steve Doocy Says Goodbye
Thursday, May 1st marked his last day as a hosting anchor on Fox & Friends. It was an emotional goodbye. Being with the network for nearly 30 years, Steve Doocy said it was akin to the loyal employee Fred making donuts on the old Dunkin’ Donuts commercials! Doocy said he will not miss getting up at 3:30 AM every morning.
Steve Doocy said he looks forward to having more of a family life, visiting his children and grandchildren. He also states he’ll have more time to cook and be with his wife, who is a cancer survivor. Peter Doocy, another Fox News correspondent, is Steve’s son. Peter has been the Senior White House correspondent with Fox News and will continue his capacity in that job.
Coast-to-Coast Host
Steve Doocy‘s new role will be that of a remote host. Several days a week he will cover news from Florida, including Mar-a-Lago, and he will cover some smaller, lesser known regions. Steve said he’s excited to bring the news to Fox viewers from the remote standpoint. He calls it the role of “coast-to-coast host” and will likely focus on food segments as well as human interest and news coverage. We look forward to seeing what Steve Doocy will be doing and tackling next in his upcoming endeavors.
