The bombastic series Fire Force will return in 2025 with a new two-part season that will extend into the following year. The huge cast from Atsushi Ohkubo’s latest fantasy sci-fi series will return after the prequel seasons came out in 2019 and 2020.

The third season of this anime will be the finale of a two-part series next year and in 2026. The popular shounen that featured explosive superpowers, mainly involving fire and demons, will look to complete where the second season ended four years ago.

Included is the Holy Church of Sol with Special Company 8, as they looked to dispatch the deadly phenomenon. This brings up the mystery of the Evangelist, the ability of the Adolla Burst, and the Pillars that are somehow involved with the Great Cataclysm in the Nether. The sequel builds on spontaneous human combustion, as we see the second and third-generation prokinetics fight off the first-generation Infernals.

With the announcement for the new season of Fire Force, they dropped a trailer on Crunchyroll’s YouTube. The key new visual depicts Shinra looking up at the city in flames. The trailer dropped at Crunchyroll’s Anime Expo 2024 last week.

The two-cour trailer for the new season highlights past events from previous episodes. It was cluing in more ways than one that its ties with another series involving a sinister-looking moon should look familiar to anime fans from Ohkubo’s past work, Soul Eater.

The 48-episode, two-season series has been on a five-year hiatus, as the manga had to be completed for the next season to start. That was accomplished two years ago. Next spring, part one of the third season of Fire Force will be released.

‘Hit Shounen’ in 2019-2020 Was Fire Force’s Season 1 and 2

Fire Force‘s debut season came out with many other great anime from 2019. Many of the shows that headlined that year include Demon Slayer, Promised Neverland, Vinland Saga, Kaguya-Sama: Love is War, Dr. Stone, The Rising Of The Shield Hero, and Dorodoro.

The basic plot of Ohkubo’s recent manga, which wrapped up in 2022, is about the main character, Shinra Kusakabe, and the world he lives in, which is filled with fire demons called Infernals. These are humans that were plagued with a “disease” that makes them combust in flames.

Shinra and a few other characters, like Arthur Boyle, have the gift of using these fire abilities to their advantage in unique ways. These fight the Infernals in different ways as members of the Tokyo Armed Forces. The Fire Defense Agency and its pyrokinetics also get involved in defending the city from the Infernals.

Where to Watch ‘Fire Force’

The anime is slated to drop in April 2025 for part one of season three, and part two will be released in January 2026. Fire Force will be available for live streaming for the new season on Crunchyroll. Seasons one and two are also available on this platform, along with other popular anime done by the same production studio.

David Production will continue to be Fire Force’s studio, just like in the series’ previous seasons. They are known for the infamous, long-running Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure series that aired from 2012 to 2022. You can watch all of the seasons of that anime on Netflix.

Fire Force‘s past seasons are also available for streaming on Apple TV, Hulu, and Amazon Video. Its predecessor, Soul Eater, is also available on the same platforms. With that development, it will be about nine months until we get the action-packed Shounen anime back on the screens for its new season.
