Fantastic 4 First Steps Final Trailer Reveals Baby and Gives Us Humor

Fantastic 4 First Steps

The final trailer for Fantastic 4 First Steps dropped today. It features the iconic quartet prepping for their showdown with Galactus, balancing family life with superhero duties, and the Thing trying to get out of saying his famous catchphrase. While the trailer still hasn’t revealed Galactus himself, it gives the audience glimpses of the fights to come.

The Fantastic 4 First Steps Final Trailer: It’s Clobberin’ Time!

The trailer begins with the Fantastic 4 having to rush out of a talk show due to an emergency, displaying the age-old trope of superheroes struggling to balance life with protecting people. After introducing each member of the team, we see a man asking the Thing what time it is, trying to get him to say his catchphrase, “It’s clobberin’ time!” The Thing claims, “That’s just in the cartoon,” which cleverly references the silliness of the 1994 Fantastic 4 cartoon. Trying to get the Thing to say his catchphrase turns out to be a running gag in the trailer (and presumably the movie itself).

The Baby Has Arrived!

The movie’s teaser showed that Sue Storm, also known as The Invisible Woman, was pregnant. Many people probably assumed that Sue would have the baby at the end of the movie. Instead, the final trailer shows that while Sue is still pregnant when the Silver Surfer heralds the arrival of Galactus, the baby comes before the heroes have their final showdown with him. This gives them something very personal to protect while they’re saving the whole world.

Is Robert Downey Jr. in Fantastic 4 First Steps?

Fans were both excited and confused when Robert Downey Jr., who became iconic as Iron Man, was cast as Dr. Doom in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. This has also gotten fans wondering if he will make an appearance in Fantastic 4 First Steps before his big clash with the Avengers. Director Matt Shakman has stated that he does not wish to tread the same ground as previous film adaptations by having the Fantastic 4 fight Doom again. However, this does not necessarily mean that Dr. Doom won’t make a cameo. Given how much Marvel loves putting surprises in their post-credit scenes, a post-credit scene might be the perfect place to introduce the audience to Iron Man’s reincarnation as Dr. Doom.
